In one of the CT articles it was mentioned that he still has a quad injury.

Thats crap about Purtell!!! I thought he was going to be back by round 22, he was one of our best earlier in the year and we are short of outside backs

i'm pretty sure he was advised not to play at all this season and maybe he should be right for next season

Im pretty sure Purts is on blood thinners along with another medication that is probably not allowed by the ASDA code, most of which take up to 3 months to completely filter out of his system, so even if he was ok to go now, he'd still be gone for the rest of the season. The best thing purts could do, is get healthy, and have a big off season on the sprint track and pick up some speed and come back raring for 2008

Yeah, Purts is gone this season.

Bickerstaff played PL against Wests in jersey number 18 two week ago did he not?

Bickerstaff no doubt is on big bucks. 2008 will be his last season most likely in the NRL. Considering his propensity to get injured, do we just cut our losses now?

Ordinarly id say yes thickos, but im a big wrap on Bickerstaff, healthy he is starting 2nd rower with Costigan.
He's an awesome player. But then again, with Costigan, TLL, Tongue, Miller, Picker, Plum, Turner and even Jones, the bucks may be better spent eleswhere, like on Whatuira

I think you'll find the reason he's sidelined is that if he gets any sort of cut whilst playing it would be extremely hard to stop the bleeding. A head gash for example could theoretically kill him.

Yes, and internal bleeding would be even more of a problem and that can't be risked by playing football.

Strong mail that Purtell's career may be over because of it actually.

He seemed pretty confident of making a come back in most of his interviews.

His life threatening part is over now, now he's just on the blood thinning medicine to clear the clots, which takes about 7 months, Purts will be fine!

As for Tom, he said he'd be back in 3 weeks 2 weeks ago to Si Hawkins!

I think the concern was that he may have a genetic predisposition to DVT. If so then it would take quite a bit to manage.
