It was a good performance and a bit disappointing not to get the win but it was a real gutsy effort. Long season and good signs there. Crabtric was horrid.

All I’ll say is both of those No Try decisions were incorrect.

There’s the 8 points right there.

I’ll leave the rest until I’ve calmed down a little.

Kris, Hors and Mariota back next week for Cotric, Guler and Saulo. Tough loss but the warriors are a quality side. The game changed after the Tapine no try.

Thought Smithies and Guler were excellent tonight.

That penalty not long after the Tapine no try really changed momentum.

If Danny Levi is going to continue to be picked in first grade he should only be allowed to pass. Completely killed sets when he tried to run, especially on the line with 13min to go in the first half on 3rd tackle. Completely ruined that attacking set

Our wings also had shockers tonight.

Interesting take.

I thought we were nowhere near our best.

That was a frustrating game. Looked like our outside backs were playing on ice.

Hoppa and Whitehead kill what little attack we have.

Have we thought about standing deeper on scrum plays?

First sign that we don’t have Wighton. In the big minutes we no longer have a go to guy. Fogarty isn’t a big play man, Strange is excellent but 4 games in. Rapana is outstanding but he’s not Reece Walsh.

The decline of Nick Cotric is quite something to behold. In his first couple of years he hardly made an error, broke plenty of tackles. Origin quality player. Not so much now..

Good performance overall, particularly in defence. We slipped up for 5 minutes and they made us pay. Take the learning out of that and move on. What's clear is we are a completely different team this year, even if the media can't see it. We're in for a good season if we can stay injury free.

Didn't get the rub of the green with quite a few calls too.

We could easily have won that, and probably should have. Hopefully we see Kris and maybe Hors back in the mix.

I struggle to believe Levi only missed 3 tackles.

I wasn’t a Levi fan in the past but when he is on the field at least it isn’t crash ball after crash ball.

We should have won that, I like our defence at the moment. That was only 18 points against a desperate Warriors team in NZ.

Kris straight back in. Hors back, Hosking to start, Ata in the 17

At least the game was relatively close. But I'm sick of seeing the same plodders play and offer nothing.

Due to our lack of speed, we cannot capitalise on the half breaks made by the likes of Timoko.

Kris is a welcome addition, but I don't think neither Hoppa nor Cotric are the answer at wing. Hope to see Schiller line up with Timoko to take advantage of the breaks Timoko makes. I don't think Rapa will last at FB all season although he plays with heart.

Whitehead is dead set not a FG level footballer. The game is too fast for him. Young cannot run the right line or make a break.

Levi's defence was rubbish

Not worried or annoyed at all really
besides the fact that Stuart will make the wrong moves next week.

I’ve seen enough now to know, until it is Chevy time, that the best three quarters are

Savage
Kris
Timoko
Schiller

With our limited ball play we need threats on both edges. Cotric or Hoppa would be fine if you have points elsewhere but we don’t. Need our best attacking outside backs and it’s not even a conversation who they are.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Not for me. I like him, might be our best all round winger. But we need our fastest wingers outside our centres who (when Kris is back) are our biggest strength.

Theres nothing more amusing to me than in these threads reading someone praising a players performance and then 2 or 3 comments later someone saying they had the worst performance they've ever seen. It's like people are watching from different dimensions or something. Happens every game without fail. Just sit back with a bucket of popcorn and enjoy it pig.

Levi was garbage with the ball - in his passing and run selection and defence

But the loss is not on him. We just got outplayed by a better team and didn't capitalise when we were in their 20

MATCH REPORT: New Zealand Warriors end Canberra Raiders unbeaten start to NRL season

The Warriors ended up with an eight-point win, but the Raiders had no right to be that close. It was only the Green Machine's desperate defence that kept them in the game, thanks to three try-saving tackles. Canberra fullback Jordan Rapana made one and winger Xavier Savage made two - the second of which came with a bit of help from Hudson Young, in his 100th NRL game.

A Nick Cotric error proved costly, with the Warriors able to capitalise immediately - Roger Tuivasa-Sheck turning back the clock to score what proved to be the match-sealing try.

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS 18 (Addin Fonua-Blake, Luke Metcalf, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck tries; Metcalf 3 goals) bt CANBERRA RAIDERS 10 (Matt Timoko, Nick Cotric tries; Jamal Fogarty goal) at Christchurch. Referee: Liam Kennedy

I still maintain Hoppa offers nothing other than metres. Kris inside Savage and we are a bigger threat.
Hoppa can not stay in the team.
Momentum changed and we were never got it back. And it was incorrect call that changed the momentum .
Hosking also needs to start. Warriors were the best opposition we have played and we could have won.
We shat the bed in the last couple of minutes, a couple of players looking to do it all themselves, hopefully they learn from that

No I agree, my point was we just don’t have a go to guy. If he throws it to the crowd or puts on a try this team went to Wighton. We need someone to go to in the big moments to win us games.
