Everyone could see they had talented juniors and they needed time, but they were missing a decent halfback and they had Darius Boyd absolutely phoning it in at fullback, literally jumping to the turf to avoid making tackles.

It took poaching Reynolds from Souths (worst decision ever by Souths not to re-sign him) and Walsh feeling homesick and leaving the Warriors to turn them into a finals force again. Unfortunately losing Fog has put us in a similar position of being stacked with talented juniors but having no experienced general in the spine to guide them around (no Levi doesn't count).
What gives me hope is they got the spoon in 2020, third last in 2021 but then made the GF three years later from when they got the spoon and are now again challenging. They recruited well - experienced players to show the younger guys how it's done like Reynolds and Capewell. I don't have a high regard for Walters' coaching abilities but I think he's handled inconsistent players like Mam (defence), Cobbo (laziness and errors) and Walsh (errors) well. He's also turned some unfashionable players like Jesse Arthurs to good FG footballers.

Brisbane should really be in the top 4 every year given their base and juniors and availability of TP deals. They will be raided though by the likes of the Roosters and Dolphins in the coming years. There's already talk of the Roosters being interested in Staggs.

I would actually LOVE to see that team named. Reckon we at least compete with the Sharks last week if this had been the team.

Having to spell Levi after 20min and then endure 50min of the Tom Starling Experience absolutely murdered any chance of our forwards getting on a roll.

I think more likely he is found guilty or gets a downgrade and still misses at least this week
But when you go to the judiciary, you spin the wheel of random chance. I dont think anyone has any feel for what that kangaroo court will do, so you could well be right in which case we are proper ****

I’m surprised he got charged. Didn’t look like he did much wrong. It’s rare for two players to get charged with a dangerous tackle. Usually it’s only the guy lifting around the legs. The guy up top can’t do much once the player has been lifted.
Ata Mariota’s #1 fan. Bless his cotton socks.

DCE seeking a downgrade for dangerous throw charge

Sea Eagles skipper Daly Cherry-Evans will head to the NRL Judiciary on Tuesday night to contest the grading of the Dangerous Throw offence he was charged for in Round 8.

Alongside teammate Haumole Olakau'atu, Cherry-Evans was cited for a Grade 2 Dangerous Throw for his role in the tackle on Parramatta's Shaun Lane, with both initially facing two-match bans with early guilty pleas that became three-match bans if found guilty at Panel. While the club has entered early guilty pleas for both players, they've opted to seek a downgrade to a Grade 1 offence for Cherry-Evans. Olakauátu will serve a two-match ban as a result of his early guilty plea to the Grade 2 charge and will miss Round 9 and Round 10.

Realistically he should get a downgrade. He was a contributor, not the main offender. Seems a bit stiff giving them both the same grading.

Ricky Stuart's options to boost struggling Canberra Raiders

Ricky Stuart warned the cavalry isn't returning for the Green Machine any time soon, but he does have a couple of options to boost the struggling Canberra Raiders.

Elliott Whitehead, Albert Hopoate, Zac Woolford and Nick Cotric could all be options for the Canberra Raiders side to face Manly at Brookvale on Friday night.

The bit where he said Elliot would play? How he said Elliot was right for the sharks game but because of the tight turn around they saved him for the manly game? I wouldn’t want to read too much into things but like you I have a suspicion Elliot might be picked tomorrow.

I'm expecting an EW recall.
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

In the match thread, Seiff and I pointed out his bad defence in the first half. It was so obvious. Even before the Hynes try in the second half. I also said he needed to be dropped due to his defence in a post above before his stats came out on his mistackles.

Although I’m not a peanut.

Yeah , hard to disagree with this I’d just like to see Puru get a chance as harsh as it sounds possibly for Saulo because he has improved a lot this year .

We just looked so fatigued against the sharks… it was 65 odd missed tackles and they ran for 500 odd more meters in 50/50 possession.

It’s our forward pack. The points came - Levi should have passed the ball on but he dropped it and Strange couldn’t get the ball down but that’s two weeks in a row our forward pack has been dominated.

What the hell is the spine supposed to do on the back of that.

I reckon we'll see 3 and maybe 4 changes to the team

Sasagi is going to go for EW. Not sure it's a major upgrade if im being honest, but Sasagi's not keeping his spot after that performance and nor should he
I think Hoppa is going to come back into the team for Schiller and im not super pumped about that, if fixing our defence is the goal, Cotric is better but id take a punt on Asomua myself... but with Schiller's future lying elsewhere, on the balance i'd probably keep him but im less interested in living through his defensive growing pains, the knights can figure that out next year.

I think we're going to get a change at hooker. We might not! Stuart is nothing if not stubborn but i also dont recall him straight up hooking a bloke, old school, like that before. Levi put in one of the worst 30 minutes of football you'll ever see and Stuart was clearly as disgusted by it as we all were. That will be where my eyes go first. What happens at 9 and 14.

the 4th - im curious about Weekes. I think he'll stick with him for now. But a change, even after 1 game would be understandable. It did not work.
