Raiders player signing speculation 2015

Post by greeneyed »

What this thread is for: It is for all the idle speculation and discussion about players people would like to sign for the Raiders. Substantiated stories about players the club is linked to: they will have their own threads, with links to credible sources.

People enjoy speculating about who the club should ideally sign, and then debating it, and that is what you'll find in this thread.. or unsubstantiated questions posed on radio talk back etc etc.

It is fun. But all threads of the nature: "Joe Blogs is off contract in 2020, wouldn't it be great to sign him" will be merged into this thread by the moderators.

Have fun speculating... but remember... it's a speculation thread!

I saw on the Roosters website that we are interested in Tupou.

But seriously, I really want us to get JWH for 2016.
Avatar Bet - bleedgreen99 - Raiders to make (BG99)/miss(Lucy) the 8. Avatar from last round of regular season 2015 until GF 2016.
Signature Bet - Raider85 - Raiders to get(Lucy)/miss(R85) the wooden spoon. Signature for entire offseason.
Bottle of something to the value of $70 - Matthew Borewood to not see (Lucy)/to see (Piggles) a first grade game in 2015 for the Warriors.
The Name Change Bet - Regarding the three bets above;
I win all three I keep my name.
I win one I become "the Punish"
I lose all I become "Chicken Little"

I'd be happy to lose Kennedy, Edwards and Shillo for JWH from next year. By then our young guys will be ready to step up to any holes, Shillo will be on the wane and Edwards and kennedy are squad fillers/back ups and easily enough replaced.

I would get rid of every prop on our books (with the exception of Boyd and Vaughan) and throw in Papalii as a sweetener..

We did.
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

We need a half back
Mccrone is dusted
Williams wouldn't carve 20s
Cornish is ok. But won't deliver top 4.

Find someone please Ricky. It's painful to watch this team have no direction what's so ever

You can't base Cornish off three first grade games and this tournament surely

I'd like you to count how many time he didn't pass tried to step a defender and got caught. Sorry my personal opinion but I do not see him as a play maker or creative halfback.

Cornish was actually pretty decent in the nines... Must of done something right considering the commentators said he's been one of our best over the tournament...

I'm quite happy with Cornish being "caught", it's part of the development of a young half and being more comfortable in the top grade.

Our only half since Stuart was an alcoholic, so I'm happy to give either or both Cornish, Williams time, both have great kicking games something we have desperately lacked since Stuart left 2 decades ago.

I've had a few question marks over Cornish since he was playing in the 20's, but I'm certainly not going to judge his ability based on a game of glorified touch playing behind a forward pack that consists of a couple of teenage second rowers.

I did too but I thought he started to develop nicely into a NRL quality player last year.

We are going to get ups and downs , he is a rookie half still.

Agreed. Judging his capability as a first grade halfback based on this ridiculous format is a bit silly.

Yeah, I'm with LP Smash on this one.

More than happy with him getting caught with the ball as he's getting used to just when to run.

Sure as heck beats the hell out of a half who never runs the football!!

I'm worried thatwith the ups and downs. That when the low points happen this place with ridicule mitch and what him dropped.

As someone who is not yet sold on Cornish, I thought this tournament showed nothing but good things for him.
Clutch play against the Warriors was beautiful, and great signs for a FG halfback. I wasn't expecting to see him step 7 players to score a try, and we don't need him to be that player anyway.

Firstly - really? I thought Cornish was quite ordinary. In bits and pieces he showed some gravitas, but the tournament in its entirely? Wasn't a huge fan.

Secondly - the commentators said that? Imagine my surprise - in his positon he was up against McCrone, Butriss and Williams.

Having said this, I'm in no way caning Cornish's ability based upon a 9s' performance - he may well - and I hope it does - tear **** up this year. I just find it hard to believe he was rated in the weekend just passed.

The coaches seemed to expect Edwards to do some play making in the Nines, which surprises me...
