Clearly a game between the premiers and 3rd from last season, following on from a classic final is not something channel 9 viewers would be interested in.

My bulldog's mate explained our lack of channel nine games:
"Its Shannon Boyd, they cant show his face to children before 9pm."

Makes perfect sense now.

Looks like they want last yrs top 4 to beat up on each other early in the year to give others a chance.

Can't wait to see what 3 games made it onto FTA instead of the Premiers taking on the team who finished 2nd! They should be crackers!!

Aside from it not being a FTA game, I think it'll be a good timeslot.
Should cool down to a pleasant temp by that time.

NRL draw: Canberra Raiders to get chance for Sharks revenge in round two after Viking Clap mock

The Canberra Raiders will get a chance to test their premiership credentials in the opening two weeks of the season when they play the last two NRL champions in a brutal start to their campaign.

But despite finishing second in the 2016 season and playing two of the top-rated teams, the Raiders will be snubbed from free-to-air coverage with their first two rounds to be played on Saturday nights.

Round one (March 4): North Queensland Cowboys v Canberra Raiders at Townsville.
Round two (March 11): Canberra Raiders v Cronulla Sharks at Canberra Stadium.

Great to see the NRL produce a video showing highlighted matches for the 2017 draw at the press conference. None of which involved the Raiders. Twats.

There was a brief moment of the Viking Clap in the video.

As much as I have been skeptical about some people's obsession on the issue in the past after the season we had last year I would expect a bit more.

At first glance, it's a lot tougher than last year. Who the hell knows how things will pan out over the course of the season, though.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Maybe he was scared if he mentioned us someone would question him about our section in the middle of the season with only 1 home game in a 7 week period.

Yep, the chickens of last years draw has come home to roost a little bit
No part of that draw I can see that you could say right now "we can make a huge run here"

But we're an excellent team, as long as we do our job most teams, even the good ones can't hang with us at our best

easily our best streak opportunity. But as others have said, we are now a team that most other teams should be penciling in as a tough one
