Good return after being poor for the middle 20-30 minutes of the game. Some electricity and speed was the difference in the end

FULL TIME

Canberra Raiders 24
Blacktown Sea Eagles 22

The Raiders were rocking and reeling in the second half, but they come back to win! The Raiders will meet the Warriors in Week 2, after the Rabbitohs beat Warriors, 26-12, earlier.

Been a while since I enjoyed a Raiders game that much. Lots of positives out of such a young team.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Nice comeback win. They showed both their talent and inexperience in equal parts.

I think I have worked out who to compare Chevy to. William Zillman. Even looks like him. Not the fastest top speed but zippy in tight spaces, changes angles well

Worst I have seen them play in a while but they still got home on the back of the talent across the park against a very strong side.

Stewart was the best for mine even if he did have the worst play at the end. He just goes for 80 and is constantly around the ball. Levi also really good leading the team around the park and Morkos and HSS worked their guts out.

Lewis, Spencer and Clarkson also did a good job considering they were missing their entire normal middle rotation once Hola went to HIA. Clydsdale as well when he wasn’t doing silly things.

Losing two props prior to the game and then Hola to HIA sure tested the middle of the park. Lewis and James came up with some great tackles as did one from Stewart. Interesting to see Levi and Trev both on at the same time. Morkos was terrific. Clydesdale carried the middle load well. The Chevy Stewart try showed what tackle busting (Asomua) great hands and sheer pace (Xav) and footy nouse and pace to be where needed (Stewart) can do for a side. That was a fabulous effort.

The rise of Ethan Strange has been phenomenal
This club is loaded with fg talent imo

If you ignore the Stuart factor, there is sooo much to be excited for

I think we play the loser of Game 1 which would be the Warriors.

That’s fair. Some probably but certainly not all.

He’s a good recruiter and advocate of our club. I’ve never denied that. Just hope these guys are good enough to either

A. Alter Stuart’s coaching philosophies
Or
2) Good enough that it simply doesn’t matter

Think A. is unlikely but 2… we’ve got some special talents in key positions. Hope springs eternal

We will put them in the review/preview post… sometime they come on the day… sometimes as late as Monday. You can watch a replay of the game right now on the NSWRL Facebook page.

It’s finals footy
Would think they’ll turn the highlights around a little quicker than usual?

It’s the NSW Rugby League. They only way they can organise a broadcast of their finals matches is via a dodgy Facebook live stream!

They can’t even organise a live stream of every game, every week!

We definitely have some talent coming through... It's a conspiracy theory and I'm always wrong but could it be Savage is being held back to form a combination with Strange and Stewart? Our whole back 5 in reserve grade have 1st grade potential imo

I think you could pick any one of them and they'd do a job in firsts. Savage is the flyer with upside, Asomua the metre eater, Schiller looks too big and strong for Cup at times, I like Morkos and then you've got HSS who can still be a solid first grade

It was probably fitting that it was entirely backs tries that won us that game. That seems to be the core of the side, without Mooney and Puru anyway

Warriors. They lost today but you would expect a better team next week after their first grade rested quite a few and took half their NSW Cup team.

Will be at Leichhardt. Saturday I think.

Agree we were down on troops. Also thought Spencer was really good at lock. Had to do a lot more work than usual.

Really enjoyed logging on here just now and reading the game as it unfolded without “the Greenhouse” account spoiling all the results in a preview post before the game like they do on the occasions where Sean is providing the updates.

It’s so much better, would be great if it happened that way no matter who was providing the updates.

Bit disappointing to log in on here and see “the Greenhouse” spoil the score and then read Sean (or anyone else) giving blow by blow updates and you already know the result.

That final summary can come after whoever gives their match commentary, as it does when “the Greenhouse” provides official updates, as happened today and last week.

Nobody needs spoilers.

It is not a "preview" post. It is a live score update post. It's providing the scores, live. It can't come after subsequent posts, as it is being updated from the time final teams are announced. All our social media posts point to it.
