MATCH REPORT: Erindale knock-out reigning premiers to advance to Peter Mulholland Cup finals

Erindale College have eliminated the reigning Peter Mulholland Cup premiers, Patrician Brothers Fairfield, defeating them 22-10 at Seiffert Oval to advance to the quarter finals. Erindale centre Mark Tuialii was a standout for the red, black and white, proving a handful on the right-edge and scoring the match sealing try.

Erindale will now cruise through to the quarter finals of the 2023 competition undefeated, beating out Patrician Brothers, Illawarra SHS and Matraville SHS.

Erindale ensure Patrician Brothers Fairfield crash out of 2023 Peter Mulholland Cup

Reigning champions Patrician Brothers, Fairfield have crashed out of the Peter Mulholland Cup after going down to Erindale in their final pool match. In front of a home-town crowd, the team from Canberra booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 22-10 win over the reigning champions in the biggest upsets of the tournament so far.

Quarter finals maybe looking at the draw from last year. It seems some pools have more finalists than others. Patrican Brothers Blacktown didn’t win a game last year but went into the quarters.

Peter Mulholland Cup quarter final draw revealed as NRL Schoolboys title race heats up

Erindale College v Endeavour Sports High School

In one of the biggest shocks of the competition so far, Erindale topped their group by defeating reigning champions Patrician Brothers Fairfield 22-10 in their final group match.

Erindale, who made last year’s semifinals before losing to Hills in a thriller, were strong all competition, picking up easy wins over Illawarra Sports and Matraville. They will head to Sydney to face the bottom-placed team in the seeded pool, Endeavour Sports High School. Endeavour are the only team in the quarter finals without a win to their name.

The top eight teams in the Peter Mulholland Cup will be fighting for their future in the competition in Wednesday’s quarterfinals. Westfields Sports High School go in as favourites after topping the seeded pool, while Erindale College has a massive target on their back after eliminating last year’s champions, Patrician Brothers Fairfield.
