I Mean we are well and Truly aware that Wighton has no Hammy issue and this is a ploy for him to be fresh for his Final Home game for the Raiders

Re: 2023 Rd 26 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
I think this one is going to go the same way as our home loss to the Warriors.
As in, the Broncos take all of our punches in their stride and on to win the game comfortably because they are a proper top 8 side whereas we aren’t.
At this stage to predict some inspiring Raiders victory feels pretty delusional tbh.

Savage plays this week - surely?
Re: 2023 Rd 26 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
I think he will out of necessity.
Unless Kris is able to come back, i think Rapana is likely going to get a suspension, if Kris cant go, at that point Savage cant be left out.

Re: 2023 Rd 26 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
Canberra Raiders' Xavier Savage looms as Albert Hopoate replacement
Is it time for Xavier Savage to make his NRL return? With Albert Hopoate's rib injury forcing him off at half-time, the door is open for Savage to sprint through. Coach Ricky Stuart said Hopoate's injury, which he carried into the Bulldogs game, wasn't too bad.
"I don't know the extent of it, but once it settles down we'll see where it's at," he said. "I don't think it's too serious, though."

"rib injury" not form related hooking?

If the repeated 'fines' for JWH and NAS are indicative of grubby ****, and not malicious **** then I expect Rapana to get another fine. But since when has the NRL / MRC been consistent.gangrenous wrote:Why would you say that…Botman wrote:I think he will out of necessity.

Re: 2023 Rd 26 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
Seb was initially 3-4 wks, or Rd27-Wk1 finals, so, I doubt he is back.
I'd say Hoppa will miss at least a week.
I think Rapa will get cleared TBH, but if he doesn't we start looking thin in the backs (*if suspended).
That said, we lost a back to injury this wk, so watch Ricky roll out another back and hooker on the bench this wk.
I think Rick will go with:
1. Rapa (*Savage)
2. Cotric
3. Croker
4. Timoko
5. Schiller
6. Wighton
7. Fogarty
15. Guler
9. Woolford
10. Tapine
11. Young
12. Whitehead
13. Horsburgh
8. Papalii (coz the switch worked)
14. Starling
16. Savage
17. Mariota
I'd pick Savage on the wing over Schiller, Trevilyan over Starling, and Mooney over the back on the bench.

From Ricky Jong-Il's wikipedia:
"Ricky Stuart has never had to drop an underperforming player. If a player is playing poorly Ricky will knock them down with a hamstring or rib injury by osmosis."
Re: 2023 Rd 26 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
Savage into fullback. Rapa back to the wing. Schiller in if Rapa suspended. Kris in for Croker if available. It's how it should have been all year. Better late than never.

This is a game I can see us winning.
Remember we stopped their unbeaten start to the season.
Just need to bleed more green.

If stick is brave n smart enough n seb isn’t back, wighton to replace croker, keep Frawley, mooney in for Maritota n horse to have a 15-20 min break n allow Tapine to play lock, keep rapa at fullback n keep Schiller on wing. Hopefully rapa isn’t suspended n horse is cleared n Kris availability.

Cat 2 from recollection
Re: 2023 Rd 26 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
Rapana to 5/8th? Powerful runner, short and long passing game, grubbers into the in goal. Can kick long as well. Makes you wonder what could’ve been…
Re: 2023 Rd 26 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
Frawley was very solid against the Bulldogs. His kicking was very good and his defence rates a mention too. Considering this is the first run on game he's had for a while, Frawley was a definite upgrade on Wighton at 6 and should remain there. Our win rate without Wighton? Well, the statistics speak for themselves.
I'm not a big fan of moving Wighton to 3. Leave Croker there for the rest of the year. His points tally for the last game was the difference between us winning and losing. We should use Wighton as an impact player and he can warm the bench with Starling et al. Starling was really good when he came on last game. He caused the Bulldogs some problems up the middle.
Schiller was good when he came on too. I agree with others that Hopoate doesn't offer the spark on the wing that Schiller showed. Impressive. So Schiller on the left wing. On the right wing? All I can say is, "Welcome back Cotric".
Rapana should remain at fullback until Kris gets back.

Gotta love this argument. If Croker is tallying all these points that seemingly nobody else is capable of then he shouldn't be retiring.Bulldog wrote: ↑August 21, 2023, 9:57 am Frawley was very solid against the Bulldogs. Can't see Ricky playing a "risky" player like Savage this late in the season

I agree mostly but if Raps is suspended and Kris isnt fit... i genuinely dont think there is another option.Canberra Milk wrote: ↑August 21, 2023, 10:13 am Can't see Ricky playing a "risky" player like Savage this late in the season
At that point we're down to Cotric, Wighton and options like that. Playing guys like that over Savage would be quite a statement
Re: 2023 Rd 26 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
You do realise Dogs are one of the worst teams in the NRL? We could’ve rolled out Victor the Viking and still would’ve won, and he’d have had a solid game as well.Bulldog wrote: ↑August 21, 2023, 9:57 am Frawley was very solid against the Bulldogs. Imagine deploying Schiller, Croker, Frawley and Starling against the leagues equal best side and expecting to win, because they “solid” games against the equal worst side. HAHAHAHAHEHEHAHAHEHAHAHA

Don't agree. The Bulldogs may be down on the ladder, but on the night they dug deep and played very well. They should be proud of the way they played.rayden83 wrote: ↑August 21, 2023, 10:28 amYou do realise Dogs are one of the worst teams in the NRL? If Rapana is suspended, we might need to look at Savage at fullback. Leave Croker, Schiller and Cotric in place. Although there is some merit moving Wighton to fullback. This position arguably suits his style of playing better.Botman wrote: ↑August 21, 2023, 10:14 amI agree mostly but if Raps is suspended and Kris isnt fit... i genuinely dont think there is another option.Canberra Milk wrote: ↑August 21, 2023, 10:13 am Can't see Ricky playing a "risky" player like Savage this late in the season
