This game is crazy. Storm looked certain to score, Broncos did instead. End to end stuff.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

I wish our runners could run lines at gaps like Melbourne do when they’re in the red zone.

Good half of footy, some amazing attack.

Reynolds went down at halftime , thumped the ground. Doesn't look good , doesn't look like he is coming back on.

And I guess that’s why Souths thought they could do without him. He adds a lot to the Broncos, though.

That should not be a penalty. The player was not tackled. The ball was stripped from him. Fair try. Surrender tackles should be penalised.

Last week a player surrendered , no one touched him and ref told him to play it.

Yeah, I’m thoroughly confused by that interpretation. Either it’s a try or a voluntary tackle.

I dont know that we need the voluntary tackle rule back as such, though i wouldnt be opposed to it, i think for the most part the game is better without the bomb to the try line, pile in and drive them back tactic.. but certainly if a player is laying prone on the ground, has not be touched a player is entitled to strip them 1 on 1.

That's a fair play and a fair try to Munster imo

I mean he didn’t even try to secure the ball!!! It is just not rugby league.

It’s like last week, when Hudson Young is penalised for dislodging the ball after the tackle is complete! The tackle wasn’t complete. That player didn’t secure possession either. It’s on them to hold the ball.

I’m all for bringing back a penalty for a voluntary tackle.

Coach driven rule change as they don’t like uncontrolled situations in play.

100% but there have been many examples , it's gotten worse over the years. The one last week was a shocker. The player wasn't touched , wasn't tackled , yet told to play the ball.

It's become a joke
It shouldn’t happen. They should be penalised.
100% but there have been many examples , it's gotten worse over the years. The one last week was a shocker. The player wasn't touched , wasn't tackled , yet told to play the ball.
As I recall, there was some incident where Graham Annesley decided was “not a good look for the game” and suddenly, voluntary tackles are OK. Involved some one crawling forward inch by inch, and the opposition refusing tackle him, due to the voluntary tackle. Instead of saying… the refs should have penalised the voluntary tackle… he changes the rule! Annesley has to go, he’s causing so much damage to the fabric of the game.

Wanting to bring back a hard voluntary tackle rule is such a peak 'old man yells at clouds' issue that i cant even be mad at people about it.

After some thought about it, i didn't like the tactic to bomb on the try line, pile numbers in and force a drop out, I didn't like that it resulted in players hitting the deck and crawling forward until they were tackled to avoid a voluntary tackle penalty. I think the game is better without that. So I don't think we need to bring back a voluntary tackle penalty.

However if you're surrendering in a tackle, i think the defence should be able to drop a shoulder (legally of course, so no head contact) into the player... make em feel it, and i think if a defender manages to pinch the ball from the player voluntarily being tackled, that should be fine too. I think how it is now is mostly right, and i'll be curious to see what Annesley's says about the Munster thing... if the NRL's view is that was simply a bad call and it should have been play on, then im good. If they say that the call was right i think they need to tweak the interpretations to allow that play
