Is Tupou actually going for the ball on the Jennings try?

Re: 2024 NRL Round 7: Teams and Game Day
Just looking at some of the wider defensive line shots of tonight’s game in slow motion ‘Annesley style’ and the defensive players regularly don’t get back in line with the ref and also jump off the line before it clears the foot of the bloke playing the ball.
Amazing he hung the female referee out to dry on something that regularly happens within games. Let alone in golden point when players really push the limit.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 7: Teams and Game Day
Ashley Klein can certainly pull a penalty out of his backside.
Still, Tedesco lucky to be left out there at the end after his obvious trip.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 7: Teams and Game Day
Klein tried so hard to give that game to the Roosters.
Nelson gets tackled 1m out from the line, ball on ground defender on him. He gets up to play it and they push him back over the goal line and get a line drop out. Klein reckons he got up to play on, replay showed he was trying to play it, as he was entitled to do. I thought the Bunker was supposed to review all line drop outs but nothing.
Hughes gets tackled without the ball by Roosters defenders after he kicks it into the in goal. Should have been a sin bin or penalty at the very least. Instead Roosters get a 20m tap and Munster gets binned instead.
Jennings drops the ball in the last tackle before the kick goes up for the Manu try. Should have been a scrum to Storm.
Tedesco intentionally trips Papenhuyzen over on a kick return. No sin bin. Rapana got sin binned for the same action last year.
Collins knocks on the short kick off, but Klein claims the Storm player knocked it on and gives it to the Roosters. Replay confirms Collins touched it first.
Pathetic performance from Klown Klein.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 7: Teams and Game Day
The Nelson one was a 50/50. It impossible to tell the intent of the player in that situation both live or on replay. Could ask the question if NAS had won the ability to earn a quick play of the ball, I don’t think he did. He has either dived on a ball and surrendered or he has tried to get up.Finchy wrote:Klein tried so hard to give that game to the Roosters.

Hughes tried to run through a space that was not there and took a dive. That was a really good call. This is something DCE does a lot also.
Not sure about the Jennings call but that’s what Captains challenges are for. Both team burnt their captains challenges hoping for an advantage whereas the rule was introduced to prevent a howler. If captains waste them then that is on them.
100% the trip should have been 10 in the bin.
I actually think the worst non call of the night was the disruption on Manu by R Smith for the last Oates try, all year that has been a penalty.
This game was the opposite of our game last week. Both teams were pushing the boundaries but AK blew the penalties for them and a lot of people whinged about the game not flowing.
I think then need to move to a system where once there is 3 or so ruck infringements someone needs to go to the bin for 5m

At what point do we step back and say the referees need more help. Whether it’s training, support, time-off etc.
Ashley Klein was genuinely putrid last night.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 7: Teams and Game Day
I don’t agree the Nelson one was 50/50, at least on replay. He’s on the ground, ball on ground, defender touching him. He’s held. He can’t play on even if he wanted to. And after he gets up he makes a motion with his arm holding the ball trying to roll it between his legs when he gets pushed back. He was trying to play it.Rick wrote: ↑April 19, 2024, 8:28 amThe Nelson one was a 50/50. It impossible to tell the intent of the player in that situation both live or on replay. Re: 2024 NRL Round 7: Teams and Game Day
Like I said that may or may not have been the case but even if he was he absolutely had no right to play the ball that quickly in that circumstance. Refs have been as consistent as they can with that all year.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 7: Teams and Game Day
He earnt the right to a quick play the ball by simply standing up to play it. If the defender isn't able to hold the bloke with the ball down after a tackle is made it's his right to just get up and play it. Annesley would probably tie himself in knots with this one but if NAS got up and ran again he'd be told to go back and play it. Because like Finchy says he was tackled, with the ball on the ground and the defender still had physical contact on him. That constitutes a tackle.Rick wrote:Like I said that may or may not have been the case but even if he was he absolutely had no right to play the ball that quickly in that circumstance. What about a second ref? Has anyone ever thought of that?yeh raiders wrote:At what point do we step back and say the referees need more help. Whether it’s training, support, time-off etc.

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Warriors will need a far better second half

Lomax with something special!! 2 point field goal to finish the first half, and starts the second half with an amazing leap for a try. Warriors in trouble.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 7: Teams and Game Day
Man, Sutton has totally screwed up this game with his inconsistent refereeing of the ruck. First 20 minutes Warriors have all the ball and ruck is extremely slow. Then Saints get a bit of possession and all of a sudden he wants a quicker game. Three legup penalties in a row to Saints and 6agains thrown in and before you know it the game is gone. No doubt, Warriors have been poor but c'mon now.

Is it just me or does this Eels vs Phins game lack atmosphere?

Goal kicking optional
Just noticed Alternaleaf sponsorship covered up. Apparently can’t advertise prescription medicine unless it’s erectile dysfunction pills.
