Arthur must be cursing Sivo right now
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Shocking effort. He should have been able to tackle for Penisini and Sivo as well.

Yeah how dare a 19 year old halfback making his debut defending at centre in a team one short miss a tackle on an origin level edge back rower.

On another note, that was some epic BJ areas from Sivo!

They certainly did test Sanders, though. Ran Olakau'atu at him all night, had to make 33 tackles, missed 7. But the Eels spent the last 20 minutes of the game with a player missing on that edge. Fox Sports Lab have him with two try causes. Also a try assist and try contribution. I think he did pretty well overall.

He had a hand in a few of their try’s tonight, also made a nice line break early in the match. He has a better running game than I thought.

For me the best part was he 100% looked ready. He has improved rapidly since the trial and my thoughts that he would not be ready at the start of 2025 were wrong.

Going to be some some growing pains while his body catches up to that workload. Once it does though he's going to be great. Looks like we've nailed the signing.
He was very comfortable slotting into Parras shape in attack and Chevy in cup plays a very similar style of footy to gutho.
Now we just need to be patient with the kids and find or produce a 9.

Be interesting to see what happens in 2026. Sanders likely spends next year as first back up with Fog and Strange as first choice but then the club has a decision to make as to whether they activate the offer for Fogarty for 2026. Unless something crazy happens Fog and Sanders won't see themselves playing that Frawley role. Fog could have a good twilight stint in super league if he chooses to. There would be NRL teams that would happily pick him up too.
Strange could always slot in at centre and you play both, but that feels more like a change you make due to short term injury than a long term best 17.

Maybe not, DCE was involved up to the point it went south

Might be a mitigating factor

I dont know how he was even sent to the bin. DCE was the one who put him in a dangerous position , Big O was just tackling him to the ground.

Unless DCE lifted him from his shoulders, it's because Big O was the one that lifted him. Be hard to send the guy that didn't lift to the bin for a lifting tackle.

I jumped over to the One Eyed Eel Forum to see their reaction regarding Sanders debut.

As a result I want to thank the GH Community and the Admin team for running such a great forum. Don’t realise how good the GH is until you see the dumpster fire that is other forums.

Not so much on Sanders. They all agreed he had a really good game. A few people whinging that he was not played earlier and a bunch of people whinging that he was leaving at the end of the year.

It’s the forum in general, there seems to be no moderation at all so it’s just “fans” swearing and abusing players, refs and opponents. There is nowhere near the insight that we are lucky enough to have here. At first I thought it maybe just because it was a game day thread but the others were the same. It is also set out poorly.

To summarise;

Refs duded them
Gutho can’t kick and they would have won the game if Sanders was goalkicking
Lane is hated
Dylan Brown is only good for a few games a year
I hope Brad and Jake do not read it
Sivo was well and truly on the outer even before his brain explosion
Lomax is the savour and will fix everything
Bellamy or Bennet will be there next year

Ola probably getting a week shaved off his lifting tackle ban with the binning. Good to see DCE also getting banned too. No place for it in the game.

Sanders went okay. The left side was targeted a lot but it looked like Hopgood and Hand (?, hooker) were the weak link. Especially Hand. Sivo, despite scoring a hattrick was terrible. Not one of DCEs better games but love watching him play. You can see how well he 'game manages', directing plays, telling those around him holes to run at, who to target, counting numbers, pointing at holes. So good.

Also finally got around to watching the Bunnies/ Storm game last night. Storm were great, no doubt. But they can't be allowed to get away with that ruck. Terrible stuff. We got rid of the wrestle by referees being ruthless with the ruck. Now Storm and Roosters are going to take us straight back to the wrestle BS. The crap that those two sides are now getting away with, particularly defending their red zone. It drives me insane.

There has been a real change in the ruck refereeing recently. I reckon the Raiders Titans game was the turning point. Since then some games have been horrible to watch.

They really need to start binning people in within the 30m of the line or blowing penalties for professional fouls rather than 6 agains for the remainder of the field.

I would like to see a 5 minute bin or until the next points which would take the refs reluctantly to bin people away and allow for multiple players to go.

This game has shown exact why you don’t sign from the big teams. In one half Alamoti (Dogs reject) plays better than Turuva has in his career.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
