Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
I wasn't suggesting it's that simple to just replicate penrith, moreso that we need to pipeline and prioririse our pathways and development Sent from my SM-S911B using Tapatalk We do have a good catchment area. The Riverina, Monaro areas contain quality juniors. We also need to align with other are...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
It's a long shot but the raiders should be putting the feelers out for latrell. Have him at centre and Kris on the wing, goalkicker, backup fullback. Might want to get out of the limelight, he's a country kid and would be a statement signing.
Long odds but worth a shot.

Re: Canberra Raiders to feature in Origin 2024
Clearly needs to play 6. He needs to pick his time and spots, play a little deeper which he can do at 6 to take away the rushing and sliding defence of QLD. Only problem is finding a 7 that can do a job with both Moses and Reynolds injured it's probably Niko, who is more a 6 1/2 than a 7. Also for t...

Re: Eels half Ethan Sanders agrees to terms with Raiders for three year deal from 2025
From what I've seen from sanders (one game) and strange is if the focus is on attack than sanders should start with fog next year. Sanders level of playmaking looked miles more comfortable then strange. If it's defense than it's easily strange and fog. If I was managing sanders I would be drilling ...

Re: Canberra Raiders to feature in Origin 2024
I think Dylan Edwards will get fullback but turbo is likely also. NSW needs to figure out that QLD is the best cover defence team in football which means the space the fullback can exploit is through the middle which Edwards does and teddy used to do. The biggest test as to weather Madge know what h...

It's time to see Ata in the starting side. He has been pretty underwhelming again this year off the bench. Taps and Ata to start, paps and saulo off the bench with Mooney.

Hoppa, with his patented 'sit down' method of bomb taking will be a target. Turbo and Saab will not have to jump for the ball because Hoppa will already be on the ground. Some saying earlier in the week that Ricky would not make 4 changes to the side and then - he did. Hoppa, Cotric, EW and Guler a...

Hoppa comes in and maybe Elliot and that's it I suspect. Billy was right in that you need to give yourself some latitude moving forward. At the end of the day they just have to get some of these players better. Strange needs to learn how to run straight and engage the line to open up some space for ...

Levi has been OK this year, popped up with some tries, distribution generally pretty good, We are not watching the same sport. Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Game Day
We simply cannot run out next week with Levi and Starling in FG they're simply not NRL level footballers. With the spine being so young and inexperienced we can no longer afford to carry these guys. Woolford is no great shakes but he's better than these guys. Get Puru into the #14, he only needs to...

Put on a bunch of kids in the spine and watch the fan base sack the entire team for being rubbish. Must be the reason coaches don't like playing a bunch of rookies at the same time.
It's a sure fire way of breaking everyone's confidence.

Re: 2024 Round 8 v Sharks: Teams and Previews
I agree we need some hight on the wing that can contest high balls. With the mods to the rules it's getting harder to stop contests. If it was me I'm throwing some money to votano at the knights. He has no shot at fullback at the knights with ponga. Will take a couple of years to develop but he coul...

The point about Chevy is interesting though. He isn't particularly rapid, he's not a big player either. His game and development is going to be around effort/usage and footballing smarts/playmaking but he hasn't shown any playmaking to me yet. What this is all coming back to is...... Is Chevy a youn...

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
We need to play more inside balls to the second rowers. Both fog and strange need to do this more. Broncs sliding defence is excellent but they can struggle back on the inside.
Hopefully they figure it out and Chevy supports.

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Game Day
It's a tough game when your fullback is struggling to catch a ball and getting smashed.
Chevy should play this game out though, more for him to realize how far off he is and how much work he needs to put in moving forward.
As we say, it's character building!

Re: Newcastle Knights sign Canberra Raiders back James Schiller
Knights all of sudden have had some great recruitment. Schiller as a backup winger/centre with starting upside is a good pick up.
We should look at a winger that's an Arial threat but my guess is we just pull up players from our development system and not make signings.

Levi isn't the issue. His service this year is better than woolfords last year and he is looking pretty good so far. Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Game Day
There was space everywhere but Chevy was no where near it. He is 18 and first game but it might be a rough few weeks in attack until raps gets back.
That left side 6, centre and wing are so deep in attack they were no chance. Very disjointed but a win is a win.

Re: Parramatta Eels still hoping to hold onto Raiders target Ethan Sanders
If your going to pay sanders 500k than it has to be 4 to 5 years to get a return on investment. I think the 700k to strange is pretty crazy 5 games into his career. I do however accept that the raiders do not try to extract value out of contracts and will generally bump contracts if they believe pla...

Mariota is just slinking through games at the moment unnoticed. For me this is game needs to be a bit of a marker for Mariota. Well Turuva first made a household name for himself playing fullback for Fiji and it's his preferred position so I don't think he needs to be "converted". I also don't think 21yo premiership winning fullbacks who can also kill it on the wing are a dime a dozen. Besides, we currently have ...

Puru is an interesting one. He looks really fast this year which again is a thumbs up to the fitness coaches but if he is not the back up 13 and that goes to hors if smithies gets injured than I would probably release trev and play him starting 9 with woolford off the bench. If we were looking at england 9s for me it would be brad oNeil from the warriors. He is a robust 9 who is defensively solid and can play in the forwards. The players he “lost” left. Hodgo, Bateman, GWilly, Sutton. EW stayed and backed the coach, got rewarded for his loyalty. Not saying it’s the smartest decision by the club because he’s still here 3 years later on big coin and not contributing. But it’s happened. I have no agenda. Ricky makes some g...
