Re: 2024 NRL Round 11: Teams and Game Day

I'm gonna eat my words here.

This field has copped a flogging over 4 days but it has held up better than it has in the past.

I'd definitely consider Tupouinua. I think he'd fit in well at the Raiders. He kinda dropped off the radar since the ACL but is probably at the time to get back to his best. Re: 2024 Round 11 v Bulldogs: Game Day

There's no way you can absolutely confirm that Papalii would have landed on his legs if Weekes wasn't there. His entire body was behind the player. That's the whole point. Weekes' involvement impacted on the way the tackle played out. Anyway, there were a number of actual hip drops this weekend wher...

Re: 2024 Round 11 v Bulldogs: Game Day

The only reason Papalii didn’t land on Kikau’s legs was because another raiders player got in the way, and the force of Papalii swinging off the ground forced that Canberra player to come down on Kikau’s legs. You guys are arguing this is a perfectly fine and normal tackle on the technicality that ...

Re: The new Laurie Daley

The relationship between a half and their edge is a really interesting and often under-noticed combination on the field in attack. A good half will boss their edge, centre and wing around so that the shape they hold keeps the defensive line spread and provides options for set plays. They will then ...

I like that Stuart has a long-term plan for the team an he is sticking to it, pun intended. I don't think part of that plan is having Savage at fullback. Rapana is that experienced voice at the back. Re: The new Laurie Daley

The key for Strange will be how he evolves once opposition coaches pick a chink in his armour. They’ll coach all his usual attacking and defensive moves and decisions into their players and it will get harder for him. But he’s working off a good base and has the core skills to further develop his g...

When Cotric almost scored in the corner, I missed the restart of play, but I swear it was a 20m tap given I saw Zero tackle on the screen. I must be losing it - could’ve sworn Cotric went in touch while still touching the ball and before knocking it on. Which can’t be a 20m restart. Was at the grou...

Re: 2024 Round 11 v Bulldogs: Game Day

On a further note, I think the officiating was absolutely horrendous. Klein really mucked that up. His calls against us weren’t wrong or too out of line, it was the sheer fact that he wasn’t consistent and let things go for them but penalised us for the same things. EDIT Disgraceful. Yeah, I think ...

Laurie Daley came through into FG as a center in 1988. The Raiders had a very good 5/8 called Chris O'Sullivan and he deservedly held the 5/8 spot through to the 1989 Grand Final victory. (It was good for Sticky to have a player like O'Sullivan outside him when he switched to League too). It was gr...

Re: Trey Mooney inks big extension with Raiders

I think Taps is in a bit of strife with the shoulder report and who knows what happens with Papa, but either way I expect Mooney will be leant on a bit more vs the Rooters.

He's slowly building into a good contributor out there. Exciting stuff.

Daley was my favourite player growing up. He had the benefit of playing in the centres for a number of years (including 3 Grand Finals) outside Sully and Stick before moving to 5/8. He was an absolute gun. Could do it all in attack and defence. I love watching Strange play. I had the fortune and mis...

Why wasn't Kikau penalised. Lost control of the tackle , landed on his ankle. Oh yeah we didn't cry like a bitch Exactly. I don't think the Papa tackle was a hip drop, he was simply dragging Kikau down and made zero contact with his legs. That is not a hip drop. Bad luck if Kikau rolled his ankle. ...

It's their left edge we need to worry about.

EW needs to have a game and a half defensively tonight. That's where we can win or lose the contest.

We win this through the middle with quick play the balls.
