Re: Jordan Rapana vows to retire a Raider
Some of you folks must be married to the first person you ever met because you don’t do break ups well! It’s not good business to retain someone until they have proven beyond all doubt that they should no longer be retained. What Rapa has delivered in the past, what he offers now and what he is lik...

Re: Fullback
Anyone else concerned that all these other 18 year old FB's running around the NRL so far this year have looked well and above Chevy. I'm a bit concerned he won't have the impact we are expecting. I won’t comment on Chevy specifically, as that topic has been well covered in the Ethan Sanders thread...

Re: Jordan Rapana vows to retire a Raider
Happy with another year. He looks fit and having the years away from the game makes him a younger body than others his age. He's a winner and that's valuable. Ideally he doesn't make our 17 next year as we will have other options but I'd rather him as a backup than some other plodder. I’m happy for...

The fullback rotation is honestly fine so far.

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
Ricky Stuart won 1 grand final with a stacked Roosters side 22 years ago. Missed the finals 11 times. Won a wooden spoon. 50% win rate. Great coach. Trent Robinson won 3 grand finals with a stacked Roosters side in the past 10 years and only missed the finals once. 63% win rate. Fraud. I think that’...

Re: Jordan Rapana vows to retire a Raider
I like the cut of his jib. What’s a jib? A jib is a triangular sail that sets ahead of the foremast of a sailing vessel. The saying ‘I like the cut of his jib’ means ‘I like his attitude.’ The term originated in the sailing navies of the mid-18th century, when the nationality of warships sighted at...

Re: Fullback
Even in old games Savage wasn’t lacking in effort, just application. He’d get rag dolled a bit and fall off tackles, but he was always trying hard. He’s improved in both areas since 2022. He’s had a moment or two this year where he lacked a bit of urgency covering a kick or stopping a 40/20, but I t...

What's Robbo done? He's recruited very well. I don't think he's developed too many has he? Sits back and asks uncle Nick to open the cheque book. They've got an elite roster and they rarely play like it. Won 3 premierships and missed the finals only once when his halfback got suspended for most of ...

Re: 2024 NRL Round 11: Teams and Game Day
That's bull. Either passed off the ground. Or play on. That's not come back and play the ball Agreed. It seems you can offload minutes after you’re tackled now, and you’ll just be told to play the ball. Now we have a stip after the held call and that's a penalty. Why isn't that a play the ball. The...

That's why I think it's crazy to call it a "text book hip drop". If there's various parts of the definition that did not actually occur, it's not really text book is it?

Fair enough. I think it's one of those crazy "only against the Raiders" type suspensions, like the Hors "shoulder charge" last year, but anyway.

Re: 2024 Round 11 v Bulldogs: Game Day
What are your thoughts GE? Did Papalii commit what's contained in that definition? So, I've read all the NRL's guidance on dangerous contact and hip drops now. And while the word contact suggest there should be contact, they've written the guidance so broadly that Papalii's tackle would fit into th...

I just straight up don't think it's a hip drop, as Papalli didn't land on the legs. I don't care if he caused Weekes to, he didn't. How is it transferable?

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024
Haha surely you jest? About the ladder position? I'm not getting into another coaching comparison debate, but there is every chance Tupounuia can play as well here as he did there. I don't think there is an evidence base to suggest Stuart doesn't generally get good football out of his players. Abou...

I'd definitely consider Tupouinua. I think he'd fit in well at the Raiders. He kinda dropped off the radar since the ACL but is probably at the time to get back to his best. Re: The new Laurie Daley
The best part about the two try assists for Hudson on Friday night is that in coming weeks we are going to see defenders in two minds about whether to commit to Strange or hold off for the offload to Young. That hesitation is going to see more opportunities for young Ethan to run at will. Agreed. A...

Re: The new Laurie Daley
This is a crazy take. It was 100% the right option. Ball playing 101. He drew the outside defender and put his outside player in space 1 metre from the line. 😂 I really don't see how it's that crazy. Not saying I'm right and everyone else is wrong, but surely if there's a 3 on 1, it's at least a to...
