Re: I'm a bit lost

I'm certainly going to enjoy watching 4 other teams bash each other up. I'm a bit lost, but could easily get used to this! Seiffert, i'm in the exact same boat. I am really excited to watch the 2 games this weekend and it will be great just to kick back knowing our bumps and bruises are all healing...

Re: 2019 Finals Week 1 V Storm: Game Day

Did we get any info on why Sutton didn't play or why Sia didn't play the 2nd half? It seemed really strange. Great defensive performance by the Raiders, we really held tight and weren't stretched very often, even when they had the momentum early in the 2nd half and we were out-enthused. To only conc...

I'm not nervous, just excited. This is what it is all about.

I'm suspiciously confident as well. I think Leilua is going to a have a game and a half.

Re: 2019 Rd 25 V Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

Can't agree Woodgers. In 1993 the game had been well won long before Sticky was injured. He should have been replaced. Imo that should have been first Raiders try after half time. If we are in a similar position on Saturday I think Sticky will give longer minutes to the bench players. But we have t...

Re: 2019 Rd 25 V Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

So basically unless you hang your hat on 3rd or 4th Place (which everyone will remember), we’re putting in effort because we believe Roosters in Sydney is easier than Storm in Melbourne? For some unknown reason I feel like we’re a better chance winning next week in Sydney, but I’m still in the camp ...

Re: 2019 Rd 25 V Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

Thinking like that literally cost this club a premiership in 1993. Again i'm utterly surprised that people do not think our fringe side can't beat the a Warriors side with nothing to play for at home. Imagine thrashing Warriors 40-10 but losing Wighton or Papali for the season? The major key to this...

Re: 2019 Rd 25 V Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

If nothing else, this game will give the coach a better idea of exactly what his contingencies are. 3 years ago, had copped 3 major injuries in the finals, and there is no reason to say that cant happen again. Games like this against warriors help inform the coach about the capabilities of his squa...

Re: 2019 Rd 25 V Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

But you're not deliberately losing, you're backing the players you have in your squad to get the job done at home. Besides Kris who has had limited chances, the entire backline is first grade standard - Simmonson, Oldfield, Croker, Cotric. We won plenty of games with Williams in the halves this year...

Re: 2019 Rd 25 V Warriors: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

No way Ricky is taking this game lightly. It's just not his style. Resting guys with niggles just shows he thinks we are a legitimate chance of going the whole way and is planning for another month of footy. And I don't see how resting those guys means the rest of the team will phone it in. Most of...

Re: How should the NRL deal with significant refereeing errors?

And my point is if you want to say the game has to flow a certain way and we want to minimise stoppages, and that discretion and grey areas are needed for that, then IMO, you just kind of have to accept it and eat **** on the fact the officiating will be a little inconsistent, and sometimes that gr...

Re: How should the NRL deal with significant refereeing errors?

My point on the grey though Pigman is you simply can't be black and white as you'd get a game of NFL where it is stopped more than it isn't. As a ref you're going to find players leaving the 10 slightly early and you have to use discretion whether that player is half a foot offside or 3 metres offsi...

Re: Our inability to handle the niggle

I feel like this is a movie and i've been double crossed :D . Happy to concede the point here. Clearly the data on the ruck/10m penalties doesn't support the broader argument that i'm making and will continue to make. Also happy to concede that I carried on like a tool. I'm happy to keep discussing but I think the point was that we/I derailed the thread and other decent posters didn't want to see the entire thing descend. I wasn't taking a moral high ground, just trying to leave it to the topic that the OP intended.

Re: Our inability to handle the niggle

Curious, Ed. How do we stack up this year against the league against that metric? Up until round 10 totals. They should be right but I am less confident in these as I haven't checked the data as much. Team Name 2019 Canberra Raiders 56.0 Gold Coast Titans 56.0 Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 52.0 North ...

No doubt there will be a similar incident with the exact opposite ruling in the next few weeks as is the NRLs MO Yep, and that's the problem with "When it suits them" It's why im so dogmatic about how i see the way the rules should be enforced. I like black and white, i dont like grey. Bu...

I haven’t made a comment about the refereeing yet. But I thought Manly came with a clear spoiling tactic and the officials were unable to adequately control the game. It spoilt what should have been an opportunity to see the skills of both sides on display. You would be hard pressed to find a Raide...

Don't be like that. It could happen to anyone, especially at home. That offside was 40 metres in front of me, it was so obvious it was almost impossible for 1 official to miss let alone 4. Nah don't think anyone will call for a Williams recall, the side is settled now so absolutely couldn't or wouldn't change it unless necessary. Firstly, not the end of the world or season. It was a big day for the club and they let it slip again but we move on. I didn't think that was a good performance by us. From my vantage point at the ground it seemed so one out the majority of the time. Then the times we did try play out the back we we...

I agree with that Mickey and Matt. I'd be concerned about the top 4 ledger IF we hadn't been within a pass of winning all those contests except R2 where we came in off a 5 day turnaround played in a monsoon. The top 4 talk will work in our favour, I really believe that.

Pig, your ability to spend the first few days of the week arguing a refereeing decision or play within an inch of its life is incredible. Surely you and Rick have a case of beer on who makes the most posts in 2019?
