"Raiders hooker Owen Pattie had a standout performance in the club's round one win, having a hand in all five tries to lead the side to victory." From the Raiders Jersey Flegg match report. Could he be the answer to our hooking woes? Owen Pattie was playing SG Ball U/19 competition last y...

My concern with Hoppa is his 'sit down' method of taking bombs. He is so low when he takes the ball that Bula will hardly have to leap to catch the ball.

Well said PJ. Have to feel for Carey being so close to his ton, but a win is a win is a win. That was an exciting finish. Test cricket is best regardless of what some death riders may say. Go Aussies.

Re: The I was wrong about Danny Levi thread
Apart from the try he scored, he also saved a try but putting himself in the right position that ensured the bunker had to overturn a Newcastle 6 pointer. Very smart play that. He’s our best 9 by the length of the straight, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- he is going to be very good for ...

Billy, I know you are a fan of his but the dumb Danny plays keep happening. His team mates don't know what he is doing. It is a team game. Occasionally luck will play a part and even a broken clock is right twice a day. I did go back in to look at the play you've mentioned again at about the 23rd mi...

When you look at the amount of time players got in the trials, Kris is only 80min less than Fogs has had this season. Kris will be straight in. Congrats to 41yr old Jimmy Anderson on 700 test wickets. He becomes the 3rd player and 1st seamer to reach the milestone after Murali and Warne. Outstanding longevity and fitness. Good stuff GE. I sympathize with the difficulty of player ratings. Saulo only played 22 minutes, but I thought his attack was effective in that time and his quick play the ball in the Knights goal mouth set up the Levy opportunity which he took by scoring a try. Speaking of the 9, the try was the h...

Re: The I was wrong about Danny Levi thread
I left that game thinking he had a good game, but before he scored his opportunistic (yet fantastic) try, I’m fairly certain I was cursing him on several occasions, most notably being the “strip”. So is his performance being overblown due to a single try? Hard to tell. Did the team look better once...

Re: 2024 Round 1 v Knights: Game Day
I don’t think there’s any sign of change. He signalled that the only reason it wasn’t permanent marker was due to third party relationships. Savage on the wing, well it’s something but he should be in serious contention for fullback. It seems the permanent marker is operating pretty solidly there. ...

If Hosking keeps playing like he did last night, i dont know how Stuart could honestly say he's doing the best thing for the team playing Whitehead over Hosking. The Knights are an interesting one. When you consider they won what 11 or 12 in a row last year before being beat in NZ, they really haven't been talked about at all before this season. Yes they have lost Dom Young and I also rated Fitzgibbon but they are pretty much the same team as last year. Has...

Smithies went off for a short time in the first half. Was that a HIA? They didn't announce any of the Raiders changes at the ground. Guler was put on report for a hip drop tackle. Yeah, Smithies was a grade 2 HIA. Thanks NoMan. I have one more for you. In the first half Xav caught a short line drop out and Gagai tackled him and I thought pushed the ball out of his possession and over the side line. The Knights were given possession on the re-start. Was there any commentary a...

The Schiller try was a cracker. Knights put up a high ball to our defensive left. Chevy takes the ball and runs about 40 meters across field beating about 3 defenders on the way, he then passes to Schiller who goes 80 meters also beating tacklers on the way to the try line. Schiller the thriller str...

Re: 2024 Round 1 v Knights: Game Day
I think the interesting is more directed at 2 different backup choices rather than just picking 1. Given the game day 17 to me it's a no brainer that Savage moves to fullback if Raps has an issue. Yes Savage would seem a no brainer to me. Interesting they shifted Cotric ahead of Hoppa. I guess Hopp...

Mission Accomplished with 2 competition points and a bigger winning margin than any in Season 2023. I was very impressed with the defence of Strange on Ponga. To watch it live in the Eastern Stand surrounded by Knights fans made it even sweeter.

I hope to see Xav at fullback for a time during this match. Very easy to switch Rapa and Xav for certain plays eg a scrum move where extra pace is essential.
As for suggestions that Levy is a better defender than Woolf, I've seen zero evidence of it.

I went to see Argylle last week. For anyone looking to see it - my assessment is DON'T BOTHER. I actually nodded off for a few minutes during the film. Without giving the story away, the main actress has two roles in the film. One she is well suited for but the other 'action' role she moves with the...
