Re: Edrick Lee named in Queensland Emerging Origin squad

Croker is definitely near the top two centres in the comp. Ask yourself who you would replace Croker with in our team if you had free reign to pick any centre in the NRL, and the answer is probably one or two players, if that. Both he and Leilua are more effective/potent in that position as compared...

The fact that NSW selectors prefer Roberts over Croker shows exactly why NSW have been average at best against QLD in the last decade.

I fully understand that there are other agendas at play here, and there are definitely certain clubs who need to stop whinging for the collective good of the game. Is this all because Crocker got injured during the semi final against Melbourne. The concussion issue has been on the agenda since the huge class action case was launched against the NFL many moons ago If the NRL is going to be serious on concussions, then I think your idea of bringing in independe...

I see the sense in that rule, but then it takes the power completely out of the coach's/medical team's hands... I like the premise of "if you want to use it, then you roll the dice" as the responsibility is in the hands of the coach/medical team and they can't complain about a vital player...

Re: Canberra Raiders English import Jordan Turner on a missi

I'm sure both those teams had some sort of contingency plan in place for scenarios where Smith/Ennis go down injured. I'm guessing some sort of reshuffle would've happened in the backline, and Hampton/Beale would've come on to plug the gap in that reshuffle (rather than at dummy-half). If we were to...

Re: Increase bench numbers for finals

I reckon an 18th man injury/concussion substitute is a great idea. I've heard the idea floated around a few times over the past couple years and I'm all for it. And to stop teams from exploiting it, I think Matt's idea of not being able to play the player who was subbed off the following week is sou...

Re: Canberra Raiders English import Jordan Turner on a missi

I'm also not sure if you'd want to gamble on Hodgo playing 80 minutes of every game. Luke Bateman was a pretty ordinary substitute dummy half! True - if we set up our team so Hodgson plays 80mins at hooker (assuming Baptiste is sacrificed for a versatile back), we'd be extremely thin on replacement...

Re: Canberra Raiders English import Jordan Turner on a missi

Hypothetically speaking, if Turner does end up replacing Baptiste in the rotation - who comes off for him? I realise in some games it may depend on injury or if somebody is in bad form. But if everybody has been playing fairly well, does he come on for one of the centres? Or second rowers? Surely we...

The advantage of starting both Boyd and Paulo is that it tires the other team earlier. That gives our team an advantage for the rest of the game. This is 100% Stuarts thinking. Get them tackling 125kg giants from minute 1, remembering, there is a good chance we get 1 more this yr. Then throw out so...

I have a theory that we're saving cap space and waiting for the NRL to announce the cap for 2018. Then we're gonna pounce on a big fish and push for a mid-year release next year. Well if our coaching staff can get him fit and firing, he really could provide us with that extra punch. Hopefully running around on the park with our big forwards next to him will give him a bit more courage, he really has played well below his size for the better part of most seasons.
