It really was a boring, disgusting game. If this is our games showpiece we are in trouble.

Think the blues will have to stick with squad now.
Shame as I think they have missed an opportunity for some real change in their team.

I didn't think any of the halves out there were that fantastic. Even Thurston wasn't up to his usual standard and Cronk was running on one leg.

Maybe the blues plans of playing through the middle should be confined to the bin of failed ideas. They have tried it for years with no result.
Maybe, just maybe, they should aim to play off some second phase. Get blokes in the pack who can pop a pass and got for it.

Still need to slow down the play the ball in defence as if it's too fast a game QLD will cut them to pieces. But they need to try something else.

Coming from a Queenslander I obviously hope they continue to pick D Walker.

Provides more in attack than Dugan... only other Fullback I'd pick would be Coote, but Moylan did alright..
I blame the confusion at the back to Fergo
He was rubbish. Was cringeworthy watching him get smashed and pushed back on every kick return. We really missed Dugans mettle out there.
 dugan's mettle.... nice... i thought you were serious there for a sec
Dugan is a proper origin player, Moylan looks like a little choir boy out there. Embarrassing.

I don't know where these comments of worst Origin ever are coming from. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Yes, it wasn't flashy, but for me it hearkened back to the 80's with a defence focused low scoring struggle.

I thought Reynolds was good - some great kicks mixed in with some ordinary ones but still a better option than anyone else in NSW at the moment. His worst blue was missing the conversion, though.
It won't happen, but I would like to see the selectors bite the bullet and retire Gallen and Bird after tonight's game. Ten years of failure is surely enough.
I'd bring in Boyd for Gallen, Cartwright (if fit) or Merrin for Bird and I reckon Tyrone Peachey has No. 14 impact player written all over him

Yeah Gallen had one of his better Origins. More selective with his efforts and ultimately more effective.

Good little interview there from Kevvie.
Said QLD had some luck from the refs. Not sure that was the case. Thought some dud calls both ways but a couple of important ones against QLD early. Led to their only points.

Moylan was actually worse than I expected and I expected him to be ineffective. Straight swap for Tedesco/Dugan would be a big upgrade.

Walker.. What a joke of a pick. No point elaborating but was never going to be a good option.

Refs need to blow more penalties.. Origin is getting boring.

Was just saying something similar to a mate.. I quite enjoyed that game... I wasnt too invested on who wins, but was a great game to watch since both teams defended well, momentum swung back and forth..
it was an evenly contested match

How is it that most nrl games have what, 8 penalties a side? And yet origin games consistently have low penalty counts? It's no wonder there have been so many dour SOO games over the last few years. The line speeds of both teams is Bull - gives the attacking team no room to work with, and the games turn out to be a snoozefest

He's obviously overlooking the fact they couldn't score a single point with the vast majority of possession for the last 20 minutes.
But sure, let's pick the same ineffective 17 again

Dugan isn't a centre nor a winger... he's a fullback.. a good fullback... but he's just not currently the best fullback in NSW

Daley isn't going to make wholesale changes for game 2. He'll select Dugan over Morris for game 2, but pending injuries that'll be it.

Not sure they can pick a stronger pack and still couldn't do it.
