State of Origin 2016: Anthony Minichiello says James Tedesco a must as Blues chase points
His Wests Tigers' teammate Mitchell Moses says the Blues are "kidding themselves" if they don't pick James Tedesco and former Test and NSW fullback Anthony Minichiello has thrown his weight behind the electric 23-year-old, arguing Laurie Daley's side needs a player like him to break Queensland's defence at Suncorp Stadium next week.
Daley's squad for game two of the State of Origin series on Wednesday week will be announced on Monday night and it's anticipated there will be minimal change from the team beaten 6-4 in the first match in Sydney.

Tyson Frizell to be denied chance to replaced injured Boyd Cordner in Blues Origin line-up
NSW coach Laurie Daley is set to deny Tyson Frizell the chance to replace Boyd Cordner, when the Blues line-up is named on Monday night.
Frizell's hopes of winning a bench position rest on Daley's decision-making around Dylan Walker and Wade Graham.

State of Origin 2016: Cooper Cronk unperturbed by referee debate
Cooper Cronk has taken a thinly-veiled swipe at NSW coach Laurie Daley's stunning attack on State of Origin whistleblowers Gerard Sutton and Ben Cummins after game one, claiming "players decide games and not referees".
As NSW try to move on from speculation about Sutton and Cummins, who Daley insisted shouldn't be in control of game two for the Blues' series-saving quest at Suncorp Stadium, Cronk has provided a gentle cross-border barb that the men in the middle won't be a deciding factor in game two.

State of Origin 2016: Laurie Daley has 'got to go' if NSW lose series: Tommy Raudonikis
Laurie Daley will reportedly stay on as Blues head coach next year regardless of whether NSW, who are 1-0 behind going into Wednesday week's mission at Suncorp Stadium, can lift the Origin shield or not.
That doesn't sit well with former NSW captain and coach Tommy Raudonikis, who believes the coach should be held as accountable as players.
"If he loses he's got to go. I coached Laurie but I firmly believe if he loses this one he shouldn't get the job [next year] because he's failed."

Wade Graham up to Origin pressure: Flanagan
Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan has made the case for Wade Graham to receive a NSW call-up, shrugging off suggestions he wouldn't be able to handle the State of Origin pressure cooker with the series on the line.
Blues coach Laurie Daley will name his side on Monday for next week's game two at Suncorp Stadium with the biggest question mark over who will replace injured back-rower Boyd Cordner.

So what you're saying is the selectors aren't required? Despite there being several different coaches over the past decade the selectors have remained the same (AFAIK) and they have won 1 series. During that time NSW has not prepared for the future at all, but I've been through this rant before.-PJ- wrote:The coach is the selector. Well he has final say. There are no selectors anymore. There's daley, and then Fulton is an "advisor". Fulton needs to be shown the door... His record as a selector in the past and now as an advisor is atrocious. I have no doubt he was a pillar of influence in both the buhrer and walker selections

Obviously no one told the likes of Tedesco, Leilua and Cartwright the blueprint to nsw selection. Throw in a few shockers and be in career worst form. Playing far too well to get picked those blokes.

State of Origin 2016: The eligibility rule delivering Queensland more NSW-bred players
If it's not scary enough that the Maroons have Anthony Milford and seven other future Origin stars waiting for their chance after being suspended from this year's series for breaking curfew at a training camp in January, they also have two NSW-bred players who have formally pledged their allegiances to Queensland.
Lachlan Lam and Tristan Sailor have both previously represented NSW at schoolboy level but are now set to become the first players eligible for the Maroons under the recently introduced father-son rule.

Manly Sea Eagles star Dylan Walker rejects criticism after State of Origin cameo
Nine minutes, two touches, one run and countless column inches. Think Dylan Walker cares?
"I'm my own harshest critic and people can say what they want to say after Origin one, but that's totally their opinions. I don't really think I had a point to prove," Walker said.
"I think we were trying to [get me to play free-flowing football] in the first game, but it's pretty hard to do it in 10 minutes. Like I said before people can point the finger and blame me, but I look at it as a challenge."

State of Origin 2016: NSW soften stance against referees as Gerard Sutton and Ben Cummins look set for recall
The NSWRL has softened its stance against the referees from Origin I, with chief executive Dave Trodden admitting Laurie Daley's comments were made in the heat of the moment.
"I hope that everybody recognises that Laurie's comments may have been made in the heat of the moment and are not representative of how the NSWRL or people involved conduct themselves," Trodden said. "Comments made after the game were inconsistent with the values we hold for ourselves."

State of Origin 2016: States choosing referees ludicrous, says Maroons chairman
Queensland Rugby League chairman Peter Betros has lambasted Laurie Daley's attempts to dictate which referees hold the whistle for the second Origin encounter.
"The referees are selected through a process through the NRL referees group. I think it is ludicrous for states to think they can select referees for certain games. That goes back to the old horse trading days of the 70s and 80s," Betros said.
"We don't get a say in referees and we shouldn't get a say in referees. The day when states start picking the referees is when the day the lunatics start taking over the asylum.

"I think the referees are in very good hands. Like I said after game one, those two referees are by far the best two referees running around in the NRL, players respect them and they respect the players."
Betros is having a lend if he includes Ben Cummins as a respecter of players.
Coach Robinson's description of Ben Cummins earlier this year:
"Ben has been horrible and disrespectful to our players for many years and it has continued," Robinson said.
"We have had a good high percentage win rate until this year ... he speaks poorly to our players. He won't look them in the eye.
"The way that he spoke to (captain) Jake (Friend) during the game was unacceptable."
I'd like to see Henry Peranara given the opportunity of being an Origin Ref.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Loz I love ya mate but **** I am so happy your not the Canberra coach.
Walkers selection is pure master stroke..... Not
If your going to pick him play him in place of Morris.
That bench spot should have gone to frizell or if your picking someone purely for utility pick peachey.
Another year of disappointment
