Re: 2016 State of Origin III: New South Wales V Queensland
The selection of the Blues side for this game could go a couple of ways.
1- Laurie makes plenty of changes, selecting players he should have selected 6 weeks ago. They stand up and restore SOME pride in a series lost. It's all too late of course...
Or
2- Laurie remains loyal to the players who's "effort" is there and the Blues are humiliated at home for a 3-0 shut out.
Either way it's too late...again.
Is it true Laurie has the job in 2017 no matter what happens in Sydney ?

I'll be at this game... PUMPED!
Re: 2016 State of Origin III: New South Wales V Queensland
PJ, My understanding is that Loz has the SOO coaching for 2017. I think he will give Gallen a farewell match at home but I reckon he will make some changes in other areas.
Farah can't hold down a club spot at hooker. If Peats is seen as the future No.9 for NSW I'd pick him now. Give him a taste.
I would have had the 'other' Reynolds in the halves from Game 1 and I'd pick Josh Reynolds for Game 3. He is a competitor and never beaten. Along with Maloney he is a talker. That's what we need from our play makers imo.
A lot will depend on Dugan's fitness. If he is again unavailable then choices will have to be made about fullback Moylan v Tedesco and right centre Bird v BJ. Jennings had a poor match in Origin 2 but the obvious left side player in Morris is currently injured. Too early for Turbo Tom from Manly probably.
In the pack I'd pick Ryan James on this years form. It was a pity Paul Vaughan was quiet in City v Country.

Interesting article pointing to QLD's forwards dominance over the last 11 years.

Canberra Raiders Joey Leilua tipped for NSW Blues in Origin III
Rugby league greats have backed Canberra Raiders centre Joey Leilua for State of Origin III and think the NSW Blues coach needs to look to the future if the team is to end Queensland's dominance.
And former Blues halfback Brett Kimmorley thought Blake Austin could come in as the bench utility, while Glenn Lazarus has thrown his weight behind prop Shannon Boyd.
"I'd have [Leilua] in front of Dylan Walker any day, for sure. He's worked pretty hard from where he came from at Newcastle," Jason Croker said.

Re: 2016 State of Origin III: New South Wales V Queensland
You can't have a realistic discussion about meters gained by forwards unless you include the amount of possession. NSW in both matches has been behind Qld in terms of possession. The average meters per run are not all that different so quantity of possession is a deciding factor in this measure. Having said that Papa was outstanding by any measure.

But then you posted again in the same thread a little over one hour later... I'm started to think you might watch it, or at least look at the thread game day....
Re: 2016 State of Origin III: New South Wales V Queensland
Cartwright at 13 is crazy, crazy stuff.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
Re: 2016 State of Origin III: New South Wales V Queensland
Cartwright can play a role off the bench maybe, but he's too raw and defence too suspect to start, yet. Frizell and Graham/Cordner with Merrin (or Bird) at 13 for me.julian87 wrote:Cartwright at 13 is crazy, crazy stuff.

There's no point anyone naming any raiders players in their predicted nsw teams cause we all know none will get picked with the fraud of a coach at the helm. #SACKDALEY

Who do you have in mind to replace him ?Leipana Magic wrote:There's no point anyone naming any raiders players in their predicted nsw teams cause we all know none will get picked with the fraud of a coach at the helm. #SACKDALEY
And remember there's a 100% chance the next guy will have to be someone not coaching at NRL level. So now when you come up with a name what will this new coach bring to the table ?
Origin games and series are in general close, I believe QLD have better players...simple.
But go right ahead, name the next NSW coach.

Pretty quiet on the QLD front. Only injury worry to Morgan and who to replace him with so far. Lillyman keeps his spot over Myles who should retire from rep games. Expect Slater to announce his retirement as well.

Misfiring NSW Blues have no option but to 'pick and stick': Ricky Stuart
The critics are demanding a New South Wales cleanout for State of Origin III after another barren campaign but Ricky Stuart insists it's up to the current squad to "get themselves out of it."
"I think he [Leilua] is one of the form players of the competition, but Laurie [Daley, Blues coach] has picked his squad and they deserve to play the third game in regards to what they've got themselves into," Stuart said.

Canberra Raiders Joey Leilua unfazed by Origin speculation
His NRL club coach and captain believe he should have been in from the start, but Canberra's Joey Leilua says State of Origin is the last thing on his mind.
"I don't pay any attention to it, to be honest," Leilua said. "You hear a lot of people saying 'you should be playing this, you should be playing that', but it's not up to me. It's up to the coach and the selectors that have to pick the team. If they don't want me in there, then I won't be in there. I've just got to keep playing good footy for this team and see where I can go."

Ricky Stuart says Joseph Leilua must take on Maroons backline
Canberra coach Ricky Stuart has lauded the form of star centre Joseph Leilua, insisting the former wild child has proven himself ready to take on the Queensland backline in State of Origin III.
“I don’t pick the NSW team — but if you’re asking for my opinion on Joey … I think he should have been there in game one and I think he should be there for game three,” Stuart said.
“I have been quoted on this before and my opinion hasn’t changed. I think he’s ready for that step up, but as I have said before that’s not my decision.”

State of Origin stars should be released to club sides in Round 18
THE NRL should allow State of Origin stars to play for their club sides in round 18 considering the final game of the series is a dead rubber.
On that weekend the Canberra Raiders host the premiers North Queensland.
The home side will be without Josh Papalii and possibly blockbusting centre Joey Leilua. The visitors will lose Johnathan Thurston, Michael Morgan, Matt Scott, James Tamou and Justin O’Neill.

Re: 2016 State of Origin III: New South Wales V Queensland
I'd like to see Cartwright, Wade Graham, Tedesco and Ryan James in the side for the next game.
I think Brett Morris should be on the wing too if he plays the next game. A winger is so important in this day and age and he is as safe as they come, very reliable and a finisher. Ferguson let the blues down a few times in game one and did Mansour to a lesser extent.
I dont think we will see Croker or Leilua in the side given how Jack Bird played, Dugan's return from injury and the fact I cant see Daley swallowing his pride and leaving Walker out of the team.
Next series I'd be tempted to throw the Trbjovic boys in there if their form continues.
The biggest issue I can see if who to throw in at hooker. Has anyone put their hand up at all for the blues this year? Michael Ennis is in great form but he has a very poor track record at SOO level.
1. James Tedesco 2. Josh Dugan 3. Jack Bird 4. Joey Leulia 5. Brett Morris 6. James Maloney 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Aaron Woods 9. Nathan Peats 10. Paul Gallen 11. Tyson Frizell 12. Wade Graham 13. Trent Merrin 14. Matt Moylan 15. Ryan James 16. Bryce Cartwright 17. David Klemmer
Not sold on the halves or hooker in that team.
