Name is my name, previous Raider_69 because when i signed up i was a barely pubescent teenager and thought it was funny.

Getting married in November at the St Regis Hotel, Bora Bora, Tahiti. (Which is where the film Couples Retreat was shot at)

Im travelling to France and Germany in Sept, it will be my first real over seas experience and honestly, my first real holiday

I met my wife to be at a raiders army drinking session.

As some have suggested in the past, im not as conservative as my political posting on this site or others portray me

Ryan Reynolds is the guy id turn for, and has been long before his hollywood start started signing, it goes back my for his charactor Berg in Two Guys and a Girl, which was a criminally under-rated TV show

id like to add more if that's ok, cuz this thread is fantastic. im very layed back and not too much bothers me. i served 8 years in the army as a young bloke and absolutely loved it, travelling the world and meeting interesting people and learning about their cultures. i was once invited to a mates wedding and stood right up the back of the ceremony with my hidden radio and ear phones listening to the raiders/magpies semi final ( 1991 or 92 ) i think. oh im 41, been married 19 years and still hate the knights......thanks.

I'll add more out of boredom.

I started reading the paper when I was 5 yrs old just because I could.
I was once investigated by Qld police on behalf of the SA government due to documents in my possession.
I've ruptured ligaments in both my ankles, the first being when I was 21 rushing to pickup my grandma to get her to the hospital before my grandad died. The second time I stood on a soccer ball.
Ive been with the same lady for 14 years.
I have an almost uncontrollable urge to disarm a police officer just to see if it's as easy as I imagine.
I've never been to a live concert.
I started watching the raiders when I was 6 because I was hiding from neighbourhood kids after the saw me hanging out with a houso kid. Dad was watching the game and I had no choice.
All of my family when I was a kid supported the dragons. I broke tradition.
I'm terrified of bats, snakes and large lizards.

Awesome thread Albi. I always like these threads because I feel like a lot of people know about me through the RA stuff and former members commenting about me on here, yet I don't know about others. For some strange reason I always get a laugh when I have someone pegged as something in my mind, and it turns out to be completely wrong!

My name is Paul, i'm 31. I have been with my Wife for almost 12 years and married for 6 now. We were actually married on April fools day. My Wife and I really adore each other and i'm certainly not one of those guys that whinges about her to my workmates or at the pub. If anything I probably bore them talking about how great she is. We are lucky enough to have 2 children, Adam who is 2 and a half and Layla who turned 1 today so we've not long finished cake and presents. I have been a Public servant since 2004 and have worked for Dept of Employment and Workplace Relations, Dept of Health and Ageing, Dept of Prime Minister and Cabinet and Dept of Regional Australia, Local Govt, Arts and Sport. I work on some really cool stuff for a Public Servant.

I don't want to be a public servant all my life, I should never have got into it but it just works and pays the bills. My latest idea that i've had for a year or so is to open a sports bar in Canberra, serving food and drink similar to The London Burgers and Beers and offering whatever sport people want to watch, but with atmosphere. In Canberra we watch games in soulless clubs rather than pubs or similar.

Sadly I was born in Victoria in a place called Kew, which is near Hawthorn. However due to my Dad I go for Carlton in the AFL. I am 2nd born of 4 and have an older Brother who couldn't give a rats about any sport, a younger Brother who'll bet on whether a bus ticket ends in an odd or even serial number, and a much younger Sister.

My Father came from England as a 10 pound Pom and settled in Randwick. He reckons Souths Juniors in Kingsford was the earliest drinking establishment to open in the morning, hence why he is a Souths fan. He got me to go for them for most my childhood until we came to Canberra, and I had a Souths jumper with 6 on the back for Phil Blake. When I came to Canberra as an 8 year old I was still a Souths fan, but that soon changed when most the kids around the neighbourhood were keen on the Raiders.

I joined the Raiders Army as it was then in 1995, so I was 14 years old catching buses on my own going to games, which progressed to away games fairly quickly. That group stuck together until about 1996 when the Superleague war happened and everything disbanded. My best mate and I brought it back in 2001 after sitting in front of the then Green Brigade in Bay 72 for Laurie Daley, Dave Furner and Brett Mullins last game and realising it needed to be done much better. I ran the group for most of the years from 2001 until KW took over in about 2010. I now sit in the stand with some members of the GH however i'd never avoid a debate with any of them on here because of it.

I love almost all sports and have played sport for almost 30 years, quite a few of those years I was involved in 2 or more sports at the one time so I dunno how my parents put up with it. My RL club was the Valley Dragons in Tuggeranong, which produced the incredible Nathan Smith! I'm the type of sportsman who has almost always been one of the best players in my team at training, or in the schoolyard, but didn't really translate to the weekend. It was definitely a confidence thing and i've never really pinpointed why.

Despite some of my online debates, i'm one of the most easy going guys of all time, and I can't recall having any kind of enemy in my life. I try and get along with everyone and have a history of inviting the bullied kids who had no friends to my primary school birthday parties.

If I consider you a mate, i'll do just about anything for you to a fault. That will probably bankrupt me one day.

The best piece of advice I could give to anyone reading this is that footy is just footy, and the Raiders are just the Raiders. I used to live for it, and a Raiders loss could ruin me for a week, but it isn't worth it. Obsession is one thing but reality is another. There is more to life and the more we realise it is a hobby only, the better. I've changed my feelings on the Raiders and my sport teams these days, but that's not to say I care any less, I just recognise their place in my life. I probably should have realised this when it was just me and the Mrs but it took my kids to arrive at this point. Then my Mum got pretty sick for a while there and at the start of this year was given 6 months to a year to live. That really put it all in perspective. I'll love my footy and definitely the Raiders till I die, but even though i'll look for news on my team pretty much every day, it is just a pastime and a good distraction from the real things.

I certainly didn't put my comments up there to get any sympathy, in fact I was reluctant to do so. My sole purpose was to talk about perspective in relation to our footy talk and let people know where i'm at with it. I think I used to comment more regularly and my entire post above explains why that has changed.

I'm a 33 year old occupational therapist who grew up in Canberra but have made my way to a sleepy village on the south coast called Callala Bay via Sydney and Bangladesh. I met my wife at work in Sydney and we decided That we wanted the sea change but sooner rather than later. It was an awesome decision and we haven't looked back.

We have a son, Miles, who is almost 10 months and as Woodgers has said above, he's given me a great perspective on life. He was born the Saturday before the raiders beat the dragons last season with Dugan's try at the death so it was one of the better weekends last season!

My Dad took me to my first Raiders game at Seiffert when I was about 6 and we were playing the dragons. He was a Dragons fan but I think that game turned him to support the green machine. I haven't looked back and even when I couldn't agree on anything else with my dad we could sit on the hill of a Sunday arvo and talk about footy. He is still a season ticket holder and since I moved away my mum has become a rabid raiders fan.

We have a family tipping comp that I run and every week I write the weekly bulletin giving my tips for the games and last year my almost 90 year old grandfather won it.

I work in mental health and pretty much always have in different capacities. It is finally getting some deserved recognition after years of neglect but there is still a huge amount of stigma and a long way to go before we have high quality care available.

My user name is a childhood nickname. I changed in from green eyed mike as I kept getting confused with green eyed mick and while I appreciate his passion I have a different approach to things.

Am also not surprised that this thread was started by our resident psychologist. His next thread will probably be titled, 'and how does that make you feel?'

I'm loving this thread; such a great selection of different personalities and experiences as I knew there would be.

Couple more things about me:

Did I ever tell you I was born in New York? Well if not, there you go.. My dad played in the New York Metropolitan Opera for over 30 years before retiring to become a cowboy just outside of Phoenix Arizona.

I'm also a musician, and have a music degree from the Canberra school of music. I majored in Jazz studies and my instrument is the drums.. After I graduated in 1994, I made a living as a professional musician playing gigs at weddings and teaching drums.. Saying professional musician sounds impressive, but for someone like me with only modest talent compared to many, it's also another way of saying 'I starve to death for a living'. I subsequently went back to Uni and became a shrink and now work with vulnerable and disadvantaged men.

My kids are my life, and I'm not sure if I'd be alive without them.

1. I'm married, no kids. I don't actually want kids as I think the world is overpopulated and it's selfish of me. I know this makes me a bit weird. (Not judging others there either, just saying I have weird environmental principles!)

2. I'm 100 x more a Formula 1 fan than a rugby league fan these days. It is my goal to see every race live at least once. So far I've done 4 of 20. Planning to do another 2 this year (Hungary and Abu Dhabi).

3. I'm not sure I will ever go home. It's been four years and I haven't been back to Australia. I like it here in the UK, and may stay if they will let me.

4. I work in finance, for a trading company. The bonuses are very nice.

5. I love trashy television as well and have actually seen all 24 seasons of Survivor!

6. I liked reading the Hunger Games very much even though it was aimed at teenage girls.

7. Buddhism is the only belief system I feel able to embrace.

8. We have two cats we adopted from the RSPCA shelter in Canberra. They are well travelled felines.

in 1982 at my primary school athletics carnival i won everything...well everything i entered. 100m, 200m, long jump, high jump, discus, shot putt and was crowned sportsman of the year at Biraban Public School. also, in 1986 i saw Halleys Comet. if your still around in 2061 you will get a chance to see it....

I feel prompted to share a bit more about myself having read some really great stuff about you blokes.

. My mum was only 16 when she gave birth to me. As a single mum we put up with some crap from the narrow minded persona of small town country folk back in the 70s. Needless to say mum and I are very close. I have a very special place in my heart for young single mums and their kids. I know what its like to be poor and to feel different. I try and do whatever I can when I can to help them.

. Met my dad in 2005. One of the best moments of my life. Suddenly I made sense; I had his looks (poor bastard), personality and so much more.

. I am very introverted and private. I hate loud neighbours and people who impose their sense of a good time on me. I'm almost reclusive.

. I think I'm the most boring person in the world. But I couldn't care less. I love to read, talk to my mates, watch the Raiders and play Xbox. The best times I've had revolve around those things, not adrenaline laced activity. Well, I do love V8s and fast go karts!

. Its unlikely my wife and I will have children. Our heart is more towards helping others and hopefully being a mentor.

. I have considered Chaplaincy as a career. Once again, its for the kids who have rough lives at home.

. I take a great interest in people and their behaviour. It fascinates me. I love watching Forensic Files, CSI Australia and trying to understand peoples motivations, behaviour and finding out their lifes story. It intrigues me to learn what makes people do what they do.

. I have a serious nature. Analytical and deep thinking. It does my head in at times and it makes me intense. This turns people off me if they don't know me. I love deep discussion, I despise gossip.

#39 single no kids (that I'm aware of) a bad habit of getting involved with gorgeous women who are mentally deranged with serious issues.

#Have a half brother in Canberra I didn't meet till I was 16 (hes 6yrs older) and he tracked mum down from the adoption agency, he has a successful business down there with 5 kids (mum kept the wrong one. ) funny thing is he's lived his life in Canberra and goes for the Broncos and I've lived half of mine in Brisbane and go for the Raiders.

# Grew up northern NSW as a skate rat, surfer, muso and artist, played league throughout school as a lock tackling machine, was crap with the ball so had to make up for it.

# I'm a lazy bum, couch potato heavy smoker for 20yrs but recently quit and joined the gym to get into shape for first time in my life due to a few scares ( a weed not overweight despite living off junk food my whole life)

I'm 24, a qualified lawyer with no intention of practising, lived in Wollongong all my life, also a British citizen through Scottish parentage on my mother's side.

Since November '09 I've spent about a year backpacking overseas on various trips, intend to work here for a year and do the same all over again - I can't think of a better way to spend what little money I have. Intending to avoid the 'suburban nightmare' as long as possible. Woodgers' sig. probably tells you a lot about me as well.

I think just about everything about me is pretty common knowledge though.

Im a Stephen King fanatic as well , read all his books bar the Dark Tower series , IT is his best book , scared the sh*t out of me as a 15 year old. Also loved The Stand and Under the Dome.

Also a Queen nut , have all their albums , some vinyl , all cassettes and all CDs , books , videos , DVDs , even a few Freddy figures .

Hate seafood , any kind

When I was younger I had a room painted in Raiders colours , lime green walls , yellow ceiling and blue skirting.

I keep to myself , I don't socialise with my neighbours or go out with work mates, spare time I spend with the 4 kids and missus.

What I did when I moved to QLD was a huge mistake , spent too much money and got into debt. I can't change that and sometimes wish I never moved or sold my house. But hey that's life.

Love rugby league and I'm not interested in any other sports to any great detail other than some cricket and UFC

Seeing everyone else has shared more, I'll jump in too.

I'm in my mid-30's (closer to 40 than 30 nowadays)
I was born in Canberra but grew up in Melbourne following Hawthorn in the VFL
I moved to Sydney in the late 90's to work for Channel 7 through the Olympics
I travelled to the UK in 2005 because I was sick of everyone telling me that I should travel, decided to do it once and be done with it. By the end of this year I'll have been back another 6 times
I married Mrs Bipolar Bear (a pom) in 2008 after meeting her on my trip
2011 was my greatest year because we had our first non-England holiday (to Townsville, to see the Raiders play), we also drove down to Melbourne for a week (also timed to see the Raiders play), and our first daughter was born

I'm 28, born and raised in Canberra. I went straight to uni after high school and did a science degree. I then headed off traveling for a couple of years before winding up working in the film industry for 3 years. That all stopped when I had an episode. I got rescued by my dad, on the verge of homelessness. In any case, I was brought back to Canberra and ended up doing honors for want of anything better to do. That lead lead to a PhD. I've got a couple of scholarships, so the money isn't too bad and I mainly enjoy it although I don't think I reall want to be an academic. So I'll probably change careers again once I finish

Otherwise, I have a gorgeous girlfriend of 4 years (living together for three). We aren't ready for kids but we are about to get a dog...

My user name isn't my real name. I used to use the user name Stuart on LU years ago, mainly because I idolized Ricky as a kid. I misspelt it when I joined here and never bothered changin it
