I hear he can bat AND bowl, and even keeps wickets at a pinch if necessary.

They had 5 tests overseas and lost 4 (3 to Australia). 6 Tests and home and won them all. Australia losing last test to India at the Gabba cost us a spot in the final. Can't blame the Kiwis for that one.
yeah we had a poor series in Australia no doubt(other sides also had some poor series like aus losing to a weakened india at home) , In Australia Boult being injured and only managing one game didn't help, his replacement (Ferguson) injured and ruled out of the test/series after bowling just 11 overs on the very first morning also didn't help but the team didn't cope with the expectation and some players were found out

But we are also a much better side now with Conway and Jamieson proving absolutely world class and replacing a couple of very average performers who were lucky to be there(raval and Santner)

Jamieson looks very good, esp if he can stay fit. Which seems his major hurdle.

Conway... another Sth African deserter. FC record is quite good at an avg 47. But I'm not stamping "world class" 3 Tests in. Esp as a 29yr old debutant. (Yes, Hussey, blah blah blah, but he was the exception not the rule).

yea still early days but i'm pretty confident. his first class record is almost as good as Williamsons and a fair bit better than Ross Taylors, two players who will be remembered as 2 of the top 3 nz test batsmen of all time. he also averages 75(just 3 games though) in ODI cricket and a tick under 60 in t20 internationals, cant do much more than that.

Totally agree.
But remember Voges, Handsombe, even Phil Hughes. Started red hot and turned to mud.

I meant as a Test player. Was great in Sth Africa. Went to mud, got dropped, and had to make a comeback

Interesting when you look at the number of Australian test batsmen who got dropped then came back to become all time greats. Ponting, Waugh, Hayden, Langer are prime examples. Wouldn't put Steve Smith in the category as he was originally picked as a bowling all rounder.

Pretty much all of that great Australian team of the late 90's / early 00's were like that - Martyn was another. Or they had to wait a long long time to get into the team - Hussey for example, probably Gilchrist too (was stuck behind Healy).

The 2nd ODI and possibly the rest of the series has been called off.

Apparently a member of the WI staff has tested positive to COVID-19.

Once upon a time our C grade side would be the envy of most nations. Now even our A grade side has quite a few plodders.

That team was all part of our top squad. Smith, Maxy and Cummins the only notable absentees.

Finch yes. Warner hasn't played limited overs cricket for Australia in ages. Stoinis?? :nooo

Warner would still walk back into that team ahead of Phillippe

And Stoinis was in our last "full strength" team against England, September last year. Though MMarsh may have overtaken him now

I want to know how much acid was dropped when they came up with the graphics for the Hundred.

If you don't know what I'm talking about look how they display the score.

(Footage is of Alex Hales getting hit in the groin in consecutive deliveries)

OK I concede. Lost the series 4-1 to the Bangers. If they weren't our C grade team before they definitely are now.
