Deal came in a little higher than I thought it would
Average of 16m
But very excited for the guy, with signing bonus and his money this year, he’s already dwarfed the money he would have made even if he was the best nrl player in history lol

College football is massive too. They have clubs/pubs in just about every city that are aligned with sporting teams. They get the college flags and colours out each Saturday and former students will flock to their pub to watch the game. They're very patriotic on many levels. It's ahhh.. interesting. Massive TV deals too.

Arrrrgh
Gallop out for 5 weeks too... pretty rough 24 hours given they were a stop away from starting the season with a win over the defending champs
Yeah not ideal at all. Gallup is a saftey net for Dak, which is weird given Coop is there

There is somewhat of a gentleman’s agreement in the game
Friday night is got high school, college ball gets Saturday and pros take the Sunday/Monday

There are some exceptions that get played outside of that
The nfl will run Saturday games once the college season is over, there is a college games on Friday night, but for the most part they stick to that
That’s why the nfl has moved to Thursday night and not Friday

I used to spend Monday night after work watching the highlights of every game on YouTube. Took about 2 - 3 hours. Now with kayo I can watch full replays but might just stick to the highlights and if there is a cracking game I'll watch the full replay.

I guess if picking a game from this round it would be Packers v Saints - is Brees playing again or did he retire last year? or the Browns v Chiefs should be interesting.

They basically just smash cut to anywhere around the league, if a team is in the red zone they do double box, triple box etc and sit with them, but in between they catch you up on all the big plays across the league... you see every touchdown, every big play, injuries, they track emerging stories'

it's an incredible production and basically is non stop action that lets you see every significant play... it's **** amazing.

They do it for the MLB as well, it's sensational

Ah yes I remember. Much to my wife's dismay I used to plonk myself in front of the box on a Sunday and just watch the 3 games on pay TV. Of course they'd show the NY games but other than that we got the nbc and cbs games (I think). I went on a pub crawl with a workmate only once ... he was a jets fan and it was an epic day for a very seldom drinker like me. I had offered to take him to a game because he was such a good bloke and helped me out a lot but jets, as usual, were having a horror year so his preference was the pub crawl. Great atmosphere in the bars with so many TV's with a heap of games showing - eyes just constantly switching between the screens.

These are the games on in my area today:
1pm -
Jets at Carolina
Eagles at Falcons
Steelers at Bills

4pm -
Broncos at Giants
Browns at Chiefs

SNF -
Bears at Rams

I’ve tried watching Redzone before but I felt like I was watching bits of everything and a whole of nothing. In Canada I had the Sunday Ticket equivalent which was awesome as it allowed you to watch whichever game you wanted, and it was cheap as well. In the US you have to have DirectTV (which isn’t offered in my area) and apparently it’s expensive as hell.

For those looking to get more into the NFL, I would definitely recommend what Gergerg mentioned - watching the highlights on YouTube of every game. Usually about 8 mins a game, so around 2 hours of total time. I did the same when I was first getting into it, and it helps to see not only the highlights but learn the key players, rivalries, rules etc.

Firmly in the "It's just one game and it's only the Falcons" territory here however

- Hurts looks to be improved as a thrower, really put balls into good location and took care of the football
- The OL is legit, it's old, but if they cant stay healthy they'll be a really good unit
- the WRs are significantly better just because they have a legit #1. Smith was excellent on debut
- the offence itself was fun and interesting. Lot of effective movement and motion
- Nick Siriani is clearly an aggressive coach which i like, lot of going for it on 4th down and going for 2. Speaks well of his decision making abilities
- The only thing that stopped the eagles offence was themselves with silly penalties. Chalking that up to first week rust but that needs to get cleaned up
- Defensively, the front 4 is legit and should get consistant and constant pressure against most units. It's blah other than that, but a good pass rush will help the other positions, especially if they're playing with leads
- This appears to be a heavy zone, bend dont break defence and today it bent, and didnt break, typically my experience with eagles defences with this philsophy is that they just break, so that was a nice start.

it was a good, solid, professional win. The type you'd expect for a competent and well run team

That game was an absolute BANGER!
1 play cost the Browns the 'W'. Special teams really can win or lose you a game.
I cant fault Mayfield for what was essentially the game losing INT. Time wasnt on his side by then
