Apparently he's saying he can't be vaxxed on medical grounds. Forgive me if I'm sceptical.

Imagine sitting on that for months only to be revealed at it's most opportune time. What a strategist.

He’s playing us for fools.

And the people who allowed him in should be deported.

This has me and millions of Australians riled up. Ready to stack on a blue.

Disgraceful !!!!!

I was seeing his argument was he had the Rona during the last 6 months, so he had a natural immunity

I gotta say, the whole thing doesn't really reflect well on Djokovic, but can't say the lack of co-ordination between TA, Victorian Government and Australian Government as well as the ABF is particularly impressive either. Pack of clowns the lot of them.

Yeah I remember when he first got it last year. I saw his last 6 months comment and wondered if he got it again?

The more I reflect on this the more I think our government(s) have right royally screwed up their handling of this - big time.

I went through the process of returning to oz during the pandemic about 18 months ago. Trying to co-ordinate the demands of airlines, immigration/home affairs, NSW health, then ACT health, transport providers, quarantine situations was a complete mess. Everyone wanted something slightly different and you needed X before you could get Y but no-one would provide X without Y from someone else first.

Then they'd change the rules and you'd have to start all over again from scratch because every single step done under the old rules was now moot. With the flight deadline looming. It was pretty clear they weren't co-ordinating and hadn't had a chance to work through the wrinkles. Then they'd change the rules a 3rd time, one 20 mins AFTER I crossed the ACT border luckily (and a 4th before my wife got home, 2 weeks later).

Upon landing, more confusion as the people on the ground weren't used to seeing my particular set of paperwork and 3 different checkpoints had to make a phone call to someone about it before shrugging and waving me through (if no one answered) or getting a verbal ok.

Seems things haven't got much better in that time. I think Novak's a bit of a knob but I'm pretty sure this mess up is Tennis Australia thinking they could roughshod the rules OR failed to understand them because they are impossible to navigate through.

She hasn't quite got the credit she deserves with overseas pundits for being #1 for 2 years- there's a bit of "oh yeah but covid paused a year+" about it.

Really hope she wins the open to nail it home. She's great to watch.

I don’t understand on what grounds this is overturned.

Everything I’ve read so far seems to deal in the process not being perfect, or an expectation that Djokovic couldn’t have been expected to do more in terms of supplying paperwork.

In that case shouldn’t it be that the government has to agree to appropriately review with proper process? It doesn’t seem they’ve proven he actually meets the legal requirement to enter.

Let’s take this to absurd. If he’s walking in with a nuclear bomb round his neck and the customs officer cancels his visa using incorrect process, do we just wave that person in with no consideration to the bomb because the process originally wasn’t applied correctly?!

What the hell?

If the minister uses his discretionary powers to cancel the visa we will look even more of an embarrassment internationally. These oxygen thieves have wasted more than 500k of taxpayer money on this already.

I've pushed back on this with a few friends... more embarrassment?
For who?
The overwhelming public sentiment is in support of sending this idiot home... no one cares about procedural misjustice when the victim is a highly paid, highly disliked character like Novak is.
The talking heads will have their say about what a "bad look" it is for the government and 95% of the voting population will say "Yeah, that's a bit rough, but he's a massive ****, so who cares. **** him."

Which, i want to be clear, is not to say the these mfers arent theiving oxygen with their mere existence btw! They very clearly are.

The Tennis Thread

Post by gangrenous »

Yeah, very clearly a situation where there’s no good guy/bad guy. Everyone sucks.

And now I get to add a confusing as **** court ruling. Where’s T_R dammit! Is this how our court system works? Shouldn’t there be some argument put forward about how he’s valid to enter Australia? Not just arguments about him having tried hard and not being given a pat on the head by customs like a good boy?

Is the reporting of this bad? Or is this outcome weird?

No, the judge didn't even end up having to make a decision. The government capitulated late in proceedings and agreed to consent orders for what Djokovic's team were requesting (visa reinstated and costs paid )... And guess who foots the bill for that?

I had a dream last night DJoker won the AO singles title and at the trophy presentation premier Dan Andrews handed over the trophy and cheque to him.

DJoker smashes the trophy into the ground and stomps on it repeatedly until it’s crushed. Headbutts Dan Andrews laying him out cold, grabs the microphone and goes on a 5min rant blasting everyone..

The crowd start throwing bottles at him and he turns on them with a verbal barrage.

Fbombs everywhere..multiple Fbombs. “You dirty disgusting Aussie fleabags, I hate you all” he’s screaming.

ScoMo comes up on the big screen, and now DJoker is pissed mad.

Novak has been in this country for 8 daYs now and they still haven’t made a decision.

The AO draw has taken place about an hour ago and Novak has a round 1 opponent for 17/1.

I dont get why this is so hard?!? He has been proven to have lied, and confirmed as much.
That fact means his court case was a pile of BS.
Now the Serbian gov want to investigate his being in public while positive.
SO WHATS THE HOLD UP?!?
Send him home already
