End of an amazing career.. So many players paying tribute to the legend.

Incredible respect for Lleyton, goes down fighting once again and put on a show against a bloke in another class

Maria Sharapova failed drug test: Is this the end for tennis' golden girl?

The 28-year-old is sport's richest woman, having earned nearly $US250 million during her career from endorsements, appearances and royalties, according to Forbes. She earned $US29.5 million in 2015 alone. Brand Sharapova is a marketable force

I'm trying to understand why I keep hearing people suggesting that Sharapova has been cheating her entire career.

First thing's first - I can't stand her. Never could, never will. Would love to not have to see her theatrics on the tennis court again.

However, said drug was not on the banned list until 1 January this year, so she's not been cheating her entire career - at best she's been cheating for 3 months of this year.

Right? Or am I missing something?

How could you not love Maria, i am pretty sure she is a goddess from another world sent here for our entertainment.

I think your summary is correct though, given the time frames she would have been in solid training for the Aus open in early Jan and would have people that look after her dietary and supplement requirements on a daily basis so I doubt she made a conscious decision to cheat.

More like a mistake that she will pay a heavy price for, sad considering it is drug that doesn't seem to work anyway.

Her on court antics / theatrics, mate. Walks around like she owns the joint; takes 9 hours to serve (both first and second serves); screams as if she's being stabbed (although, strangely, when the ball is clearly sailing wide said scream miracously is cut short).

Really, really can't stand her, and since I'm not looking to rub one out during the tennis, her on court nonsense overrides the fact she's a good sort.

I remember seeing an interview with John Newcombe quite a few years back and he despised the screaming, claimed it was a form of cheating. He said that the players at that level can tell from the 'whizzing' of the ball how much the ball is spinning giving them an idea of the bounce the ball is likely to take and also how it will come off the racquet.

At the very least it's just bad sportsmanship, it's like Lleyton Hewitt and his fist-pumping "c'mon" **** bull. Now they all do it, it really **** **** me, and tennis is the much poorer for it.

There's nothing worse than listening to tennis on the radio...

Backhand, backhand, forehand, backhand, forehand, forehand, backhand, forehand, backhand, backhand, backhand, forehand. What a fantastic rally.

Forehand, forehand, backhand, forehand, forehand, backhand, forehand, backhand....

Shoot me now please.
