Curtis Scott ruled out for the season

Curtis Scott will miss the remainder of the season after meeting with the surgeon this week. He will have an operation to remove a plate in his leg. John Bateman (elbow hyperextension) has been cleared of any serious injury and will not miss any matches through injury. Michael Olfield's return has been pushed back at least week.

Scott out for season, but Englishman cleared of serious injury

Curtis Scott will miss the rest of the NRL season with a fractured leg, while John Bateman has been cleared of a serious elbow injury following Sunday's scrappy win over the New Zealand Warriors.

Surgeons will now remove the plate in Scott's leg and operate on the fibula which he broke in 2016 while playing for the Melbourne Storm.

Yeah, 2020 has been a year to forget for Curtis Scott.

Good to get that plate removed. It's not ideal for professional athletes to have that stuff in there long term.

Probably for the best, get it dealt with so he can move into an off season program aimed at improving his leg drive and strength.
Still confident that if he actually knuckles down this off season and puts in the work, he can be a good player for us. Up to him now to do what he needs to do off the park to make good on his talent

Canberra Raiders prop Ryan Sutton ruled out for season with MCL injury

Raiders forward Ryan Sutton has had scans on his knee, following Saturday night's match against the Sharks. Scans have revealed Sutton has sustained an injury to his MCL (Medial Ligament) which requires a recovery time of 6-8 weeks. Unfortunately, that means Sutton will be unavailable for the rest of the season.

He was really finding his feet.

A solid couple of months stalled by an unfortunate injury.

And he missed last years finals fever as well..tough times.

It's not all gloom and doom. I don't think we're going to win the comp this year and no knee reconstruction is a damn side better than the alternative.

I think Ryan Sutton can be a cornerstone of our forward pack for years to come based on what he's shown in his first couple of seasons here.

Looking forward to that becoming a reality next year. When we will win the comp.

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker expected back in Round 3-4 next season

Canberra Raiders centre Jarrod Croker is expected to return to the field in Round 3-4 of 2021, after undergoing shoulder surgery recently. He suffered the injury in the Preliminary Final against the Storm, but played on regardless. Emre Guler, Corey Horsburgh, Bailey Simonsson and Curtis Scott will be ready to in Round 1 next year, but a return date for hooker Josh Hodgson is still to be determined.

That update is more in line with previous reports putting Croker out for a couple of rounds. The Hodgo update is interesting too. Starling must be sweating that incident now. Bloody starting spot in a top 4 team up for grabs with rules changing exactly to suit the smaller players and his speed.

So assuming those recovery times hold true, round 1-2 teams will be really interesting. Chance to assess the other centres with Toots out- see Scott and Timoko both in action side by side. Hodgo out makes Havilii a dead cert for the 17 somewhere I reckon. But do you start him or Starling? I'm going to start Starling assuming that with the whole game faster now you want him out there from the start, as you can break a game open at any time. The grind will be less prevalent.

I reckon he'll be OK and it's just that he hasn't had his knee fully tested in contact drills yet.

A few weeks ago there was a report in the Canberra Times indicating Hodgson was back running and aiming to get back into contact work in February.

He made it back in eight months last time. He did this one on mid July, eight months would be mid March... so maybe could miss some early rounds. It can take nine to 12 months. Not so confident having looked at the timelines.

He looked really good in the rehab vision at the end of the year. I was taking the times from the date of injury... so could be the six and a half months is from the time of the operation (?)
