Corey Harawira-Naera signs with Raiders to end 2022

Re: Corey Harawira-Naera reportedly on the Raiders radar
Maybe the rumours that Cotric has signed with the Dogs relates to a potential trade with CHN?? Would people be happy to lose Cotric if it meant we got CHN as a replacement? Maybe we could have a dig at Oates with Cotrics money?

There is no trade unless they are talking this year, which there is no way that they would be. Nick isn't contracted past the end of this year. I love Nick and hope he stays but yes I would say that it would be better use of the cap to have CHN on an 1.5 -2.5 year deal using part of the salary cap exemption for this year. With some luck with injuries our premiership window is open now and we need to try and win now. CHN improves our chances this year. I am just not comfortable with the reported 3 year deal with a 2 year player favoured option.

IMO, Oates would only (potentially) be on the market if the Broncos pay massive overs to retain Fifita. Otherwise, there is no chance he'll be leaving.

Never understood the lure of Oats.
As a winger? Size yes, but we still lack speed.
As an edge / second row - no way IMO.

If Broncos board are backing Seibold he'll have a bit more say in who stays and goes. He has no commitment to Oates so he might be out the door regardless of Fifita's decision. It would more likley put see Broncos joint he market for CHN.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑July 17, 2020, 4:03 pmIMO, Oates would only (potentially) be on the market if the Broncos pay massive overs to retain Fifita. Fair point. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. The train wreck at the Broncos is similar to the Dogs, just with a slightly better calibre of players.Northern Raider wrote: ↑July 17, 2020, 5:07 pmIf Broncos board are backing Seibold he'll have a bit more say in who stays and goes. Think Seibold would love a clean slate. If he could offload the overpaid toxic influences he'd be well placed to take the club forward. Whether he lasts long enough to do that is another question.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑July 17, 2020, 5:10 pmFair point. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. Indeed. I'd love to know who's on his list. He obviously got rid of McCullough (for Isaac **** Luke of all people), while Boyd and Milford are a cap anchor. Goodness knows what he does with TPJ.Northern Raider wrote: ↑July 17, 2020, 5:15 pmThink Seibold would love a clean slate. Jack Bird been a total bust for a $1m player.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑July 17, 2020, 5:28 pmIndeed. I'd love to know who's on his list. Pass on Oates - he’s got richards for fingers

Yep. I’d only take Oates around $250k a season.Rickmando wrote:Pass on Oates - he’s got richards for fingers

Re: Corey Harawira-Naera reportedly on the Raiders radar
That'd leave us out of the race then. One thing Oates would add is that metres out of trouble. It's probably the best part of his game that 2nd tackle from his own end.
Teams tend to aim their long kicks to him specifically to take him out of that role.
There's negatives there though. Sometimes the hands aren't right.

Just on Oates, might take him a while to get over that injury
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Doubtful he plays at all next year. Awful timing too being off contract.

That’s one of the craziest misdiagnosis’ of a football injury you’ll see.

Fuming Bulldogs forward Corey Harawira-Naera demands immediate release so he can join Canberra Raiders
Kiwi Test backrower Corey Harawira-Naera wants an immediate release from the Canterbury Bulldogs to join last year’s grand finalists the Canberra Raiders. The Bulldogs held mediation talks aimed at convincing Harawira-Naera to re-join the Belmore club on Friday.
But if the Kiwi Test backrower gets his way he’ll be headed to the national capital to join the Green Machine alongside New Zealand teammates Jordan Rapana and Joe Tapine.

Would be awesome to get him here with Bulldogs paying half his salary next 2 years. Feels like we're the only club without somebody still on the Dogs payroll.

Thing is they need somebody to take over his current contract and they would still be liable for any shortfall. I don't really know the legalities here.
