Canberra Raiders show of support for young fan

On Sunday, the parents of Dre Pritchard posted the story of their son Dre and his brother to The Greenhouse Facebook page, who suffer from Hunter Syndrome, a rare genetic disease. They were hoping that the story would find its way to the Raiders players, as both boys are huge fans of the Green Machine... and they were hoping the players might send some messages of support. Hunter Syndrome, which often affects young boys, is a terminal illness which has no cure.

Dre is having surgery today for a port replacement, which will allow him to continue to have weekly infusions that make him more comfortable. That procedure is, itself, risky.

One of the members of The Greenhouse Facebook group, Sue Washington, quickly responded, sharing the story with many of the players on Instagram. South Sydney Rabbitohs back, Latrell Mitchell also spread the news. The Raiders players issued a raft of messages to support Dre on Instagram. The Raiders also released a video today, in a great show of support for the Pritchard family from the players and club.

Our best wishes to Dre and his brother and their family.
