I agree it was soft. Think play on was the right call, but when a third man in comes and gets silly, they're more inclinded to penalise it now to prevent things blowing up

If there was contact, it was absolutely incidental. People gotta be outraged though

The real issue here is almost immediately the stupid 18th man rule has failed. Player removed from the game due to foul play, and is unable to be replaced. Pointless and changes the entire complextion of the game

Spot on. It will only work if refs have the courage to bin players for foul play which we know they won't. I'm not sure how you manage it but something needs to change. We're going to lose 2 games due to questionable HIA decisions (Kris being the other one)

Also in Defence, Wighton should play outside the two backrowers and then come back into 6 when we have the ball.

Anyone notice that our 18th man is a forward! So. Besides having 2 x hookers and 2 x forwards on the bench, if we got to use the 18th man we would still be ****! Common sense would tell you to at least put a back as 18th man

The “no brainer” move here is Wighton to fullback, Hodgson to half back, Williams to 5/8th... and Starling (a hooker)!to...uh..hooker.

So let’s see us ignore this move and get rinsed by 40 because we continue to play Jordan Disaster at fullback...

Couple of talking points:

I personally can’t blame Hudson Young. If a second rower drops on my winger like that ( I thought contact was on head but regardless) I want a teammate that fires up a bit. 99/100 iT won’t end up in a penalty against you.

CNK isn’t stopping that try, defence was too passive which gave Lui a tone of time to make that decision.

CNK got contact on the head that ended his night regardless of it being on report or not that should be enough to activate the 18th man.

I thought we went at Kikau early with the intention of gassing him out to stifle his attack. Seemed to work as I thought he went missing.

That was in the intial discussion, post review, he clearly explained to Hodgson the penalty was on Young.
I feel like im going crazy, am i the only one actually watching it? It was on the telecast.

That is what he initially called but after the review it was for Hudson Young running in on Kikau. That is what he explained to Hodgson.

It's the closest theoretical 'like for like' replacement move, but it doesn't work in practice. Would risk throwing our game completely off

It's a structural thing. Moving a back to CNK's position doesn't affect it nearly as much

Shifting a half can derail an entire side of the field. I don't think Hodgo would do any training at halfback either
