Melbourne haven't played yet they could yet be hit hard by the crackdown. The Storm are always pushing the rules as far as they can and if there is any consistency around this round I would be very surprised if they will get through without any charges.
I’m very interested to see that game
But I suspect the way the storm are run and coached, we’ll probably see them adapt to it the best
They always do
Did hodgson get thompsons fingers in his eye slightly prior to the chicken wing? Looked like it live but havent seen a replay but could be a mitigating factor?

That's not far off our NSW Cup team at the start of the year. Pretty close to what will be selected. Would rather Timoko on the bench instead of 4 middle forwards.

Lol hang on. Isn't Peter V'Landys a genius? Best administrator since blah blah blah so and so who also 'got' the game?
Hahaha, I mean that's what we kept being told, wasn't it? Saviour of the game. Gets **** done.

Bloke needs to **** off and let the NRL's management do their jobs.
Thank God someone finally says it...
I cannot believe how much the media suck up to him..
I haven’t seen a replay of the Hodgo chicken wing but watching live I’m pretty sure his pommy mate playing for the dogs had fingers around Hodgo’s eyes. That obviously doesn’t give Hodgo a green light chicken wing but there was some provocation there I think.
1. Aekins. We're a more threatening team on the right with a ball playing FB. Not sold at all on his defence/physicality though. 2. Simonsson (Rapa if fit) 3. Kris is regularly one of our stronger players. Like to see him take a few more of the hit ups as he progresses- he's the best physically equipped for it in our back 5 and he can break a tackle. 4. Scott. Looked like one of his better games in Green. Haven't watched a replay of defence or anything but this is more like the player we thought we were getting. 5. Valemei. Looking more comfortable in FG. Made one or two well judged and -importantly- well executed defensive plays. Looked likely with the ball in hand too. Potential FG'er. 6. J Wighton. Don't think he'll cop a suspension. 7. G Williams. That game highlighted some of his strengths- pace to hold off outisde backs when he backs up in support, which is a feature of his game. But also that he doesn't always grab the game on the 5th and run the right play when he needs to. 8. James 9. Starling 10. Lui 11. CHN Pretty decent output from him that game. And that's about what we are going to get from him defensively. Actually got through a lot of tackles but missed a few too. We're not yet maximising what we could get from him in attack either. 12. Whitehead 13. Young Seems to be copping some flak for that game. I thought he was ok.
Interchange
14. Havilii. Just because Hodgo is suspended. 15. Horsburgh. Stop dropping the pill you big goose. 16. Sia games like this is where we get some value out of him this year 17. Guler. I'd give him a few more minutes this week. He's just off his form from last year but I think he's kind of winding back up.
Not a team that is going to remotely trouble Melbourne.
Edit: Forget Guler, added him.

Pretty fair result, we should just take the early pleas and be done with it
Agree Toviii. At least that way we would have Jack and Hodgo available against the Chooks. Hodgo reacted to having his fellow Englishman's hand all over his face. Probably the reason it got the grading it did.
Papa likely to miss the opening Origin game. That is a shame for him, the series and fans of Origin footy. As others have mentioned, I hope the League is consistent in the rule and that Mate against Mate, State against State has no bearing on how the Origin games are Referee'd.
This week's match against the Storm, without such quality players, is likely to get ugly, early.

I agree with all of this. However, we all know that despite State of Origin/Choice being just another game of league, they will treat it like it is a completely different sport.

It's kind of irrelevant. You can't say "I intentionally did a chicken wing because he poked me in the eye" as a defence anyway
Dragons gave it a red hot go and still had almost half a century put on them....
Could be a dark Saturday night...might have to make other plans and just catch the “highlights”...

On the other hand, we might have expected the MRC to take some action against Thompson for the rake across Hodgon's face. It wasn't an eye gouge.

People expecting Papalii to be suspended for quarter of a season for that shot are watching a different game to me.
Deserved a penalty and probably a sin-bin. The send off was a clear result of policy-on-the-run by the NRL. 3 games seems reasonable.

Who was expecting that?
Umm, the people expecting him to get a 6 week suspension.

But who?
The people, in this thread, who expected a suspension of up to 6 weeks.
I’m calling it here and now, due to favourable results we sit in 8th spot, upset of the year coming against the Storm, we win by 14, then we beat the Chooks by 22 points ( CNK MOM) sitting in 6th spot heading into origin and going on a 12 win winning streak to finish the regular season 4th

His points charge with all the priors etc is 510. Which is 5 weeks
The only reason it’s 3 is due to the early plea discount
So it’s not that **** far fetched, is it?
