Re: Canberra Raiders sack Curtis Scott
In all the public discussion about the Scott case I can't believe that the fact the club was blindsided by the release of the CCTV footage a week after the incident because the player failed to inform them of what had occurred has not been raised. That cover up alone Scott, in light of his history, is grounds for dismissal and is the reason why Buzz Rothfield's stance that they should have waited until the court case is totally irrelevant.

The cover up and failure to report the incident in my view equates to what the SG Ball players did at the start of the year - were not honest with the club about an incident. They were all moved on immediately.

Both fair points Green Blogger - players should be expected to be upfront and honest with the club.
In terms of a club with those expectations, how do you feel about the Raiders covering up the Curtis/Bateman incident and not reporting it to the NRL?
I read that Curtis had issues at Melbourne and although we don’t know what they are because Melbourne didn’t play them out publicly, it is reported that Melbourne made them known to the NRL integrity commission.

Isn't that obvious? A person with half a brain in that situation would follow the very simple, age-old saying: "no face, no case". If it was a personal altercation in a private setting where the club or public would likely never find out, or even if they did, there's no proof... then sure. You would keep it private. Scott was in a bar in the middle of civic with cameras everywhere.Billy Walker wrote: ↑August 25, 2021, 5:30 pmWhy should any player lodge a personal altercation with the club?Raiders_Pat wrote: ↑August 25, 2021, 5:09 pmWhy should any club lodge an in-house dispute with the NRL?Billy Walker wrote: ↑August 25, 2021, 4:45 pm Both fair points Green Blogger - players should be expected to be upfront and honest with the club.

I see - and the Scott/Bateman incident occurred in a private setting where there was no chance of the media or anyone ever becoming aware of it…… hang onRaiders_Pat wrote: ↑August 25, 2021, 7:25 pmIsn't that obvious? No doubt about it - Hodgo was spot on. Caring and compassionate about a mate, disappointed in the situation but in no way critical of the club. I’m not sure how he could have handled it any better.

Matt Frawley finally replacing Williams with two games to go and season all but done, along with horrible use of the bench and other things shows me where the problem is - it ain't Hodgson's comments.

funny that Scott and his sacking completed disappeared off the timeline within 24 hours of the Raiders giving him nothing to come back at them over.
Amazing stuff.

Re: Canberra Raiders sack Curtis Scott
Latrell Mitchel may have had a bit to do with the changing headlines. Ending the season of a former team mate and friend and then the Coaches comments and the 'you're not welcome' in the tunnel from JWH followed by the long suspension. That had media click bait all over it.
Curtis will have his day in Court and as always, innocent until proven guilty.

Re: Canberra Raiders sack Curtis Scott
There is always something in sport ready to take the headlines away... that was the entire point, Red! This isnt luck, it's just how the news cycle works.
If it wasnt Latrell, it would be something else.
If you want a story to die, starve it of oxygen and let something else take it's place... the club leant it's lesson quicker on this one than they did Goerge Williams
They're incredibly slower learners

Latrell didnt knock off Scott out of the news cycle , Wayne Pearce did with his 7 tackle joke , Latrell knocked that off.

Well, they couldn't land TPJ, Finucane, Latrell, JAC so beggars cannot be choosers
Can we offer them some of our other players on contracts ?
