Canberra Raiders sack Curtis Scott

Re: Curtis Scott banned three matches and fined $15,000 after nightclub fight
That is vague... some discussion about what Curtis Scott would need to do to get back in the bubble, return to Canberra and isolate for two weeks in his own home. But then basically saying he's focused on the 29 players he's taking away, in so far as selections are concerned. Still, the answers suggest that termination is not the plan.

That can’t be right though - Botman was very clear about how this would play out and he knows everything!

To me vague comments would suggest termination is well and truly on the cards. Not Sticky's ace to divulge that at this time so talk around the topic.

Also quite possible the club could drag their heels until the 'August' transfer deadline so he can't sign for another club.Northern Raider wrote:To me vague comments would suggest termination is well and truly on the cards. Not Sticky's ace to divulge that at this time so talk around the topic.

Doubt they'd care tbh, probably unlikely he'd be registered again this year if he is sacked

He has served his NRL 'game' penalty so I'm not sure the NRL could prevent his registration? Whether there would be any interest from other clubs is another matter, based on his performance, the position not often being a 'critical' position to fill and his behavioural history. We are also dealing with one of the most stubborn personalities in the game and him wanting to totally slam the door on something is really something he would do.-TW- wrote:Doubt they'd care tbh, probably unlikely he'd be registered again this year if he is sacked

Of course, but like I said in following post we're talking about Ricky here. Piss him off and he'll double down on you.Raiders_Pat wrote:It shouldn't matter to us if he does imogergreg wrote: ↑July 14, 2021, 5:57 pmAlso quite possible the club could drag their heels until the 'August' transfer deadline so he can't sign for another club.Northern Raider wrote:To me vague comments would suggest termination is well and truly on the cards. Canberra Raiders apply to bring Curtis Scott into the NRL bubble
The Canberra Raiders have put in a request to the NRL to bring Curtis Scott back into their COVID-19 bubble, with the club unlikely to impose any further sanctions on the centre.
"We've just seen the sanctions from the NRL and we'll accept those sanctions," Don Furner said. "We've put in a request to the NRL to ask how we get him back here to train or what happens if he goes later up there."

Seems were going to apply to bring him in to the bubble.

YIKES.
As evidenced by my posting, I'd be STUNNED if Stuart kept him. Now preparing for the mother of all omelettes to be cooked on my stupid **** face for expecting the club to do what seemed rather obvious.
Re: Curtis Scott banned three matches and fined $15,000 after nightclub fight
I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume this is a move to have him breach the bubble to reduce the termination cost.
Other than that I got nothing.

I'm very surprised by the stance of the club. If his contract had been terminated, I certainly would have been in agreement. Must surely be on his very last chance.

Yeah - I’m not shocked about this outcome. Some fairly strong opinions that proved to be wrong over the 12 pages. A lesser man would call them out but I’m too mature for that

Logic has gone out the window here. I can only imagine Stuart is too stubborn, and this would be seen as admission that Bellamy got one over him by selling him an absolute lemon. Where does leave Timoko? Will he have to transition into the backrow to get a look in with three centres rated ahead of him?

I wouldn’t assume Scott is high on the pecking order. I’d imagine he would be coming into the bubble to train hard, support the team and prove to everyone he deserves ANOTHER chance. He’d have at least 3 blokes ahead of him at this stage you’d think.Roger Kenworthy wrote: ↑July 14, 2021, 7:53 pm Logic has gone out the window here. He has been a walk up start since signing with us despite being a 3 (or a generous 4) out of 10 over a season and a half. He's pretty much untouchable.Billy Walker wrote: ↑July 14, 2021, 7:59 pmI wouldn’t assume Scott is high on the pecking order. That would involve trawling back through posts, learning how to cut and paste…as an inherently lazy person I’m feeling tired just thinking about it.Botman wrote: ↑July 14, 2021, 8:01 pmTake the victory lap, my guyBilly Walker wrote: ↑July 14, 2021, 7:46 pm Yeah - I’m not shocked about this outcome. For what it’s worth I thought he should have been sacked as well but I guess we don’t know what we don’t know and maybe Ricky has a plan

I guess he’s easier to offload in the August window if he’s already in qld and cleared to play?
Re: Curtis Scott banned three matches and fined $15,000 after nightclub fight
I’m presuming the offence without a police charge and with only a light NRL punishment wasn’t enough to sack him.

A bridge too far to win 3 away from home for the Blues. Or is it!
Re: Curtis Scott banned three matches and fined $15,000 after nightclub fight
Ugh. The club not sacking this absolute flog and waste of space player has dampened the only potential good news in a season of soup kitchen after dumpster fire after train wreck.
Retaining this bloke is the worst thing of the whole lot.

If this **** pelican gets a run ahead of Kris and Timoko then I'll **** march on HQ.
Re: Curtis Scott banned three matches and fined $15,000 after nightclub fight
Surely it's only so reggies have a centre when they get going?
Ricky to go out all glun blazing to end the season with Croker and Scott in the centre- Kris, Timoko and HSS 18th, 19th, 20th man because no back on the bench?

I put my faith in you Bot. We were meant to have Scott off the books and JC submitting his medical retirement to the NRL right about now.Botman wrote: ↑July 14, 2021, 8:01 pmTake the victory lap, my guyBilly Walker wrote: ↑July 14, 2021, 7:46 pm Yeah - I’m not shocked about this outcome. I'm absolutely stunned and have absolutely no idea what the club sees in this guy.
We have somehow stepped into a place of accepting total mediocrity in our squad.

Actually i said Croker's medical retirement situation wouldnt be resolved just prior to the start of 2022 season at the absolute earliest.Roger Kenworthy wrote: ↑July 14, 2021, 11:57 pmI put my faith in you Bot. This Scott situation is utterly confounding to me though. I cant fathom that Stuart sees a future enough in Scott to not take this gift. Everything that had happened suggested this was going only 1 way and now... apparently not.

And a gift is exactly what it is.
For the next 2-3 years we have close to $1M tied up by two of the worst centres in the comp.
And we have a chance to jettison some of that baggage right now.
No idea what the brains trust at QLC are thinking.

My only thought is that they must have received legal advice that they don't have grounds for termination. Explains the lull in news regarding how the club is dealing with it.
