UPDATED: Canberra Raiders to play NRL double header with Melbourne Storm
The Canberra Raiders have had their game with the Cronulla Sharks on the Gold Coast switched from 3pm to 5.30pm on Saturday to form a double header with the Melbourne Storm versus Newcastle Knights - with the North Queensland Cowboys-Sydney Roosters match moving to 3pm.

Storm to host Knights on Gold Coast with two other games switched
The Storm have relocated to Queensland for the third time in a year and will host the Newcastle Knights at Robina Stadium on Saturday night. The clash between the Storm and Knights will now kick off at 7.35pm as the second game of a Saturday double-header on the Gold Coast. The first match will be between the Raiders and Sharks at 5.35pm, moved from its original time slot of 3pm.

The Melbourne Storm will host the Newcastle Knights as part of a Super Saturday double header on the Gold Coast, after relocating to Brisbane following an announcement of a lock-down in Melbourne.
The North Queensland Cowboys will now host a Saturday afternoon game ahead of the V8 motor race which will now begin at the conclusion of the game.
Saturday’s revised schedule will now be:
3pm: North Queensland Cowboys v Sydney Roosters at North Queensland Stadium
5.30pm: Canberra Raiders v Cronulla Sharks at Robina Stadium
7.35pm: Melbourne Storm v Newcastle Knights at Robina Stadium
National Rugby League Chief Executive Andrew Abdo said the revised schedule would be a win for south east Queensland league fans and north Queensland sporting fans.
“The Gold Coast now hosts a double header on Saturday which gives fans the opportunity to see twice the action and that’s a good outcome for the game,’’ he said.
“The Cowboys will now play at 3pm and I want to thank the V8 Supercars who are moving their race in Townsville back to ensure no overlap between the two events. This collaboration is a win for all sports fans.
“I want to thank all clubs for working together to achieve a schedule in the best interests of the competition, in particular the North Queensland Cowboys who agreed to re-schedule a genuine home game on very short notice.”
Mr Abdo said Storm players and their families would arrive in Brisbane tonight. Given Melbourne is not currently a hot spot the team will be based at a separate hotel to the Brisbane hub, but will remain under Level 4 restrictions.
“It’s clear the risk to the competition is too great to keep the Storm in Melbourne, so we have made the decision to relocate the club to Brisbane,’’ he said.
“The Storm have made significant sacrifices over the last two years, I want to thank the players and staff for everything they are doing to keep our competition going.”

Re: 2021 Rd 18 V Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
The issue is the broadcasters. They can only cover so many grounds. The Knights are already based on the Sunshine Coast and the Storm normally play there so it would have made sense to play them there but I doubt they have the equipment.
The GWS v Swans game was set down for Saturday afternoon but will now be Sunday night. The reason they have said is the couldn’t play at the Gabba and Metricon (the Suns are playing at home too) on the same day because of the broadcasters.
The AFL seems to have decided not to have double headers rather they may play two games at the one venue in a day but have a few hours in between. I suspect it is because of the change room facilities.
The broadcasters in SE Qld and it is all outsourced to NEP are doing 7 NRL, 4 AFL and a Wallabies test this weekend. Probably a tough ask considering they probably aren’t allowed to bring any trucks or personnel from Sydney or Melbourne.

This theory makes sense, no way tickets aren’t on sale by now without big issues behind the scenes.Bay53 wrote:The issue is the broadcasters. They can only cover so many grounds. Re: 2021 Rd 18 V Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I'm interested to see if the Sharks get a scrum 20m out from our line if Sam Wiiliams will defend in the line at A or B defender from the scrum base. Lets see if anything has been learnt from previous weeks.
Re: 2021 Rd 18 V Sharks: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
Indeed. Get him out of there trying to chase from the base. No need for him to be there in the first place when we're defending - this isn't the 60s.

Go to the game page on NRL and click on Buy Tickets. Takes you through to the right Ticketek page.
https://www.nrl.com/draw/nrl-premiershi ... -v-sharks/
Only selling Western Stand at the moment. Got tickets in section 5-1. Don't expect too many people to be there.

Canberra Raiders' Jarrod Croker feels for Sydney-based NRL players with families presently unable to travel to Queensland
On one hand, Jarrod Croker's very happy his wife Brittany and son Rory are allowed to move to Queensland. But on the other, he felt for the Greater Sydney-based players, who still don't know if their families will be able to join them in Queensland over the next month.
"Very happy mate, but I also feel really sorry for those Sydney boys," he said. "I do feel for them, it's a bit tough on them, but hopefully they can work out something.

In the Manly match he packed into a scrum. That is one way not to be isolated in the backline. Not recommended though.
