Not a lot to back up that he's not a first grade coach. Built a squad from scratch. Finals in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021. 3 of those years are top 4 finishes.
sticky started the job, BA couldn't coach a choko vine to grow over a fence, much like Nathan Brown

I think he's the sort of coach that will get exactly as much or as little out of the team as the talent he has in it
He's not outwitting many at the game planning table and not sniffing the top tactical coaches in the game. He a style of footy that is out of date and fastly becoming a detrimental game style, and if they cant get over the hump soon, his authoritarian demenour is going to start to wear its welcome out.
Canberra Raiders reach agreement with Jamal Fogarty on three year deal, now waiting on release from Gold Coast Titans
The Jamal Fogarty ball is in the Gold Coast's court, with the Canberra Raiders offering the halfback a three-year deal to move to the capital. Fogarty's management met with the Titans on Thursday in a bid to finalise his release so he could join Jack Wighton in the Raiders halves next season.
Almost there. I assume if the raiders offered 350k or thereabouts, that's more than the Titans will probably want to offer if they see him as their backup half. Plus the intangible of standing the way of a guys FG career when he's really at a career turning point and finally has a chance to really make it.
Seems strange. I thought they had already granted him a release? I get the feeling that they simply gave him permission to negotiate with us. Now comes to that bit where they try and pinch hodgo off us with us carrying part of his freight, which we should in no way entertain.
The frustrating part is that I get the feeling that this is holding up other recruitment decisions like Peachy. Just wish we could announce it and get moving with other signings

I dont think that's the case
These sorts of things are usually done way before any official announcements are made
If i had to guess, i'd say this is firmly in the "confirmed" basket for the club and they have ineeed moved on to other matters. The official paper work might take longer than we'd like and that can be frustrating for us fans. But the club knows by now what's happening with this.
(Spoiler alert: he's going to be a Raider. Whether the paperwork is finalised tomorrow, next week or next month)
Im sure you are right but what they won't know right now is whether hodgo will go and if so on what terms and that will absolutely have an impact on our other recruitment decisions

again, i would disagree with that
i would bet a fair chunk of money that both the Raiders and Hodgson know right now if he's going to be a raider in 2022 or not.

I don't think so - we've usually not really let the media know who we're after over the last five or so years. This one came out because there were so many moving parts.
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't pick up another 1-3 recognized first graders and the first we hear of it is when it's announced.
Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is just the train that's about to hit you.

Pretty sure that's what he'd already agreed too at Titans 300-350K for 2yrs. I'd say even if we offered 500K, we are getting a good deal.

Considering Chad Townsend is on about 700/800k, you're probably right. And not knocking the Chad, I think they are similar output kind of players- pretty good organiser halves who actually do contribute a fair bit- but not quite the main man kind of guys. And a Sharks proved you can win a comp with that sort of half, if you have some quality around it.
Jamal Fogarty joins Canberra Raiders on three-year deal
Jamal Fogarty is a Raider. The Gold Coast Titans co-captain has agreed to terms with Canberra to be their organising halfback for the next three years. Both the Raiders and Titans management are in the process of announcing Fogarty’s formal release. The NRL have ratified the three-year deal worth just over $1 million.
Jamal Fogarty agrees to terms with Canberra Raiders
Gold Coast Titans co-captain Jamal Fogarty's set to become a Canberra Raider this week. The halfback's agreed to terms on a three-year deal with the Green Machine and just needs to finalise his release from the Titans to make it official. It's hoped that will all be sewn up by the middle of this week.
Three years for about a million isn't a bad deal for both parties. He also gives the club another goal kicking option if Croker doesn't make it back. Compared to a few other options being tossed around I think this is a good signing, for a good price.
Fogarty's agreed to terms on a three-year deal with the Green Machine.
"He's a good player and the captain of the Titans so he's obviously done something right up there," Raiders co-captain Jarrod Croker said. "He's that hard-working sort of bloke who took a while to break it into first grade, so it sounds like he's got a really good work ethic."
