Raiders board member Bronwyn Fagan says courts may decide on any NRL vaccination mandates

Lawyer and Raiders director Bronwyn Fagan says the onus would be on employers to show any vaccine mandates were lawful and reasonable - with a court potentially deciding whether that was the case for NRL players.

"Most employers have the ability to make a lawful and reasonable direction, so the employee can't refuse to comply with that, but the onus is on the employer to show it is lawful and reasonable," Fagan said. "It's complicated and it absolutely turns on the circumstances of each case."

The problem is going to be state borders.

Sure, an employer may not be able to mandate you get it - but every second game for us crosses a state line. If states require vaccines to skip a quarantine period it’ll mean our guys either have to get them or they don’t play away games.

What this will mean for Papalli and Tapine is anyone’s guess.

I really hope Ms Fagan, and the Raiders Board, approach this issue with the broad view of leaders of a club with a wide supporter base across the community rather than the narrow view of what is best for the club in the short term.
