The development contracts are full. Not that it matters, given NSW Cup players can come into firsts on the same terms.

Josh hodgson offered 2 year deal by tigers. Canberra won't stand in his way if he agrees terms. Maybe the cap is screwed. Letting him go is a ridiculous option with the way our roster is shaping up to 2022.

I don't think this has anything to do with the cap...The writing has been on the wall for Hodgo for quite a while.

I agree, but it's not cap reasons

I can't see how it is screwed. The amounts we are paying for Fogarty and knocking back for other players (no to 250/300k for Taylor, no to similar or a bit higher for Elliot, not going hard at Peachey for overs) tell me a few rational decisions are being made.

Of course the Croker situation (with Elliot maybe joining him) could complicate things. But most clubs have one overs deal on their roster- it happens.

Personally I think this is clearing the decks for a big play, either in the works or next big can who's unsettled.

I'm actually feeling a lot better about our recruitment than before due to this news. This gives me confidence that we've got our sights set on some big targets in November.

If we have Salary Cap issues now, we are extremely lucky we were able to get Curtis Scott off the books. His salary plus the difference between the Williams/Fogarty contracts would be close to $700K (approx.). We would have been in all sorts.

I for one admire the loyalty the club shows it favourite sons even if it comes at the cost of success. Sure some more fancy successful clubs might choose to only doll out big money for internationals or premiership winners but what the hell is that all about. There might be doubts about how Jarrod Croker will perform over the next 2 years but really does it matter? It just seems like the right thing to do to pay him $1.2m because - well he’s probably a good bloke. Let’s not complain about the cap, we all love Jarrod so we got exactly what we wanted! Let’s enjoy.
