Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
Handy pick up to add depth to our back row. Has a bit of versatility too. He was a bit stuck behind some aging favourites at Sharks.

Thanks, but no thanks. Heilum Luki is the player we should be targeting.greeneyed wrote: ↑October 13, 2021, 7:13 am Riccio saying Raiders (and Tigers) interested in Billy Magoulias on SEN Breakfast with Vossy: https://webplayer.whooshkaa.com/show/13 ... ode=915474

Magoulias is a bit of a plodder.

Agreed. Although Magoulias sounds more like a squad filler type signing. Still underwhelming.UncleDrew wrote: ↑October 13, 2021, 9:04 amThanks, but no thanks. There were big wraps on Magoulias a year ago...Wonder why he never quite kicked on

Only criticism I have of the guy is if you pump him up too much, his voice goes funny and he runs a risk of drifting off
Feel free to call me RickyRicky StickStick if you like. I will also accept Super Fui, King Brad, Kid Dynamite, Chocolate-Thunda... or Brad.

Re: Raiders reportedly interested in Billy Magoulias
Was very good for Newtown and Sharks juniors but hasn’t kicked on. From memory not a big body which can make the transition harder.
Mind you, our new marquee signing had a number of false starts before becoming a regular NRL player.

Very average player from what I have seen him playing for Cronulla off the bench. Even that has been limited as he cannot make an average Cronulla team's first 17.

The Canberra Times is reporting that the Raiders are not interested in Billy Magoulias: https://www.canberratimes.com.au/story/ ... /?cs=14239

Feels like every time I have logged in over the past week we are linked or have signed someone I haven’t heard of.

Does that article suggest we are looking at anyone else G.E? We have signed some good young kids but was hoping for 1 or 2 decent 1st graders.
Re: Raiders reportedly interested in Billy Magoulias
It doesn't say much more than the Raiders are not believed to be interested in Billy Magoulias.

Re: Raiders linked to Billy Magoulias
We would have a fair few spots left in the 30 man squad so if it’s depth than it I’d probably not too bad an option. Still would rather have kept somebody like Medlyn or O’Donnell but I guess that was due to COVID
Re: Raiders linked to Billy Magoulias
Magoulias won the game for Newtown in a last-second play in the NSW Cup grand final whenever the hell that was. He had some ball skills. Given his chance in first grade, he was invisible.
Basically the Gavin Miller version of Rod the Bod. He's also probably getting on in years.
All of these reports, which say that the Raiders and Tigers are fighting for some plodder's signature, are lame-ass player "manager"s' attempts to drum up interest. I'm pretty sure that Donny has seen it all before. I'm pretty sure all the other clubs have too.

Yeah, I was tipped onto him as a prospect earlier that year. Can't say I've seen anything to impress. Like the Mitch Cornish of the back row.
Re: Raiders linked to Billy Magoulias
he's in that very good nsw cup not good enough for nrl void where he probably needs to go to EnglandSeiffert82 wrote:Wasn't that the grand final in 2019?Lui_Bon wrote: ↑October 13, 2021, 10:24 pm Magoulias won the game for Newtown in a last-second play in the NSW Cup grand final whenever the hell that was. Is that 3 left? Could even be 4 depending on what the Williams situation is.
We have Hoppa, the young Mullo, Esera and Trevilan floating around close enough to spots who the club might want a spot or two free to upgrade. I'm assuming Morkos is a year or two away. I could be wrong.

I’ve corrected the list. Hopoate is in the top 30 from 2022. https://www.thegh.com.au/forum/viewtopi ... 3#p1831263BadnMean wrote: ↑October 14, 2021, 8:28 am1 Jarrod Croker - end 2023, player option 2024

Morkos reported to be on a promise of top 30 in 2024.
That’s 28. The club hasn’t officially announced him either. I’m told Williams and Frawley are definitely re-signed, but neither have been officially announced by the club. The number of two spots left was reported by The CT yesterday, after David Polkinghorne spoke to Peter Mulholland.
I’d like to see some spots for youngsters at the club.

In the past we've left the final spot open until almost trial match time iirc.
So maybe not another signing, assuming they might get Trevilyan in as the 3rd hooker
Re: Raiders linked to Billy Magoulias
On promoting young players, I'd hold off until the start of the season. See how they all go in pre season training. Particularly if the NSW Cup rule applies again next year.
Re: Raiders linked to Billy Magoulias
Christ. Having Fogarty, Williams, Frawley and Schneider all in the top 30 would be such a bloody stupid thing to do.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Sounds about right. His skillset would really suit the style of game they play over there. He's a pretty skillful backrower.bonehead wrote: ↑October 14, 2021, 4:32 amhe's in that very good nsw cup not good enough for nrl void where he probably needs to go to EnglandSeiffert82 wrote:Wasn't that the grand final in 2019?Lui_Bon wrote: ↑October 13, 2021, 10:24 pm Magoulias won the game for Newtown in a last-second play in the NSW Cup grand final whenever the hell that was.
