Siliva Havili signs with South Sydney Rabbitohs

Siliva Havili will join the South Sydney Rabbitohs next season after signing the deal that will all but finalise Jason Demetriou’s 2022 NRL squad.

Set to be announced this week, the Canberra Raiders’ forward will become the 27th player on the South Sydney roster after the club signed Michael Chee Kam from Wests Tigers and promoted six development players into the top squad.

Might have been handy to keep with JH gone.

Now that Reynolds has gone, Souths need someone who can kick field goals. Havilli is pretty famous for his field goal prowess.

Good player. Agreed that it would have been beneficial to keep him (especially if Hodgo goes), but they obviously wanted to clear the decks to bring in some new blood.

Solid FG footballer. Had some issues with handling at times, but positives outweighed the negatives imo. Good luck Siliva, but not too much when you are playing against us.

He's had some good games for us. Wasa great foil for Hodgo. Could tackle and offload. Probably would have made a great hooker in the 80s.

Siva is a good player and seems a lovely guy so no disrespect intended, but seriously South’s choose to promote him with a picture of him kicking……. If you look closely at that picture you can almost see the cogs turning in his head that he has released the ball but is still in two minds as to which foot to use to kick it. :roflmao

Correction. It is a picture of him attempting to kick. There's no guarantee the ball actually contacted his foot in this intance.

I looked at again and perhaps I’m being unfair, it may well be a picture of him taking a hit up either immediately after he has dropped the pass or just before he is about to :roflmao

That ball could have been photoshopped into the image too

You just know there will be some muppet over in the Wabbits forum saying - “It’s a good signing guys but people are saying stuff about his kicking game and dropped balls over on the Greenhouse”

Seems like they have used a NSW Cup image rather than him playing in a NRL Strip.....

If you zoom in on the image and note what is written on the ball I’d suggest it is quite apt :roflmao

I hope he gets some good opportunity and goes well, but against us may he bring “the knock on effect”

We have had 2 genuinely good number 14's the past 7 odd years in Baptiste and Saliva with their own individual contributions - i'd say both were relatively plucked from nowhere as well, lets see what the club can come up with moving forward

Does that qualify as fixed?

There was nothing wrong with Baptiste - he’d go well in the modern game.

Siliva Havili backs Canberra Raiders hooker Tom Starling to get back on track

Former Canberra hooker Siliva Havili backs Tom Starling to put his off-field dramas behind him and says the Raiders will rally around him.

"It's not good for the club and every club's at the stage of hoping no one makes a mistake in this off-season, especially to the brand of the game and the club itself. But I know Tommy will be better for it, come good, and he'll have all the support of the boys."

Siliva says there was some interest from the Raiders in extending him, but he thought he needed to change given Starling had come through and he was a bit out of favour.
