Papalii to be overlooked for Maroons

Post by greeneyed »

Canberra Raiders forward Josh Papalii's form surge not enough to earn Origin recall

Canberra Raider Josh Papalii's recent form surge has not been enough to win back his Queensland jumper with the forward set to be overlooked for Origin I in Sydney on May 27.

Likely Queensland team: Billy Slater, Darius Boyd, Greg Inglis, Justin Hodges, Will Chambers, Johnathan Thurston, Cooper Cronk, Nate Myles, Cameron Smith, Matt Scott, Sam Thaiday, Aidan Guerra, Corey Parker. Interchange: Josh McGuire, Daly Cherry-Evans, Jacob Lillyman, Matt Gillett. 18th man: Dylan Napa.

How can McGuire play? He played for Samoa a few weeks ago and is therefore ineligible.

Im fine with that, would like Papa for the Dogs game, his effort this year has been good, but he's still not back to where he was deserving of origin footy

Hopefully this motivates him to step his game back up

Id prefer Papa playing for us too. He looks like he has lost 10kgs since the start of the yr (10 might be an exaggeration).

So much for the highly vaunted Qld loyalty, good enough for 18th for the Kangaroos but not Qld.

Suits me. To be honest i'm the least interested in Origin this year than any time in recent memory. NSW broke the duck last year, and the Raiders building towards something above average has my full attention. Our players being recognised obviously has its benefits, but from a purely selfish point of view, I hope we build our game and momentum over the next 2 months facing sides weakened by Origin. Without overrating our players, I think plenty of them have the potential to get the honours in due time.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.

I'm as interested, if not more, because I think the boys massively need our support this year. We're in line for a hiding I think.

Backs against the wall type stuff - not unlike our NRL team - is what brings the biggest amount of interest and support out of me.

Papa has been good the last month- maybe not all time vintage Papa but pretty good. And he's been twice as good and twice as fit as Thaiday.

I feel bad for him, I like having a Raider or two to watch in Origin and I think it's good for the club when they do.

Hopefully he tears the Dogs a new one then.

Thaiday has been going well since he was benched. It was the rocket he needed.

Paps deserves a spot on form. Especially over Lillyman

But Im happy to have him in Raiders colours this weekend

Papa probably doesnt make the side looking at that 18, BUT... And its a big one, Lillyman making the side is s joke. He was good last yr for Warriors, but has been almost none existent this yr. Napa plays for mine, and it isnt close. However as a Blues fan, im happy about it, and happy to see 3rd Man In there too.

Smith getting off for kicking Luke is a joke too.

For mine the maroons have missed a perfect opportunity to change the guard and get rid of a couple of old has beens!
Hodges should be watching the match in front of the TV screen,

To be honest who cares about origin? It seems so boring this year, we ended the heavily stacked lopsided affair last year.

Under Queensland rules, because he played hooker for Samoa he's ineligible to play hooker for Queensland.
No problem if he plays prop, though.
