53rd min TRY AUSTRALIA to Damien Cook... that is AWFUL for the Kiwis! They threw a thousand offloads in the red zone... and one lands in Cook's hands and he streaks away to score under the posts. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb play from the Kiwis. Mitchell converts.

58th min TRY AUSTRALIA to James Tedesco, set up by a run from Cook down the middle. Quick play the ball from Cotric in the lead up. Converted Mitchell.

Shaun Johnson is a shocker. NZ are crying out for some quality halves. Missing their forwards but they'd still be trash even with these halves.

Crowd over over 18,000 at Wollongong. That's probably the biggest crowd there for a long time.

Bit of an unfriendly hand to the face there from Wighton to CNK... don’t like to see that.

Lot of people leaving early. Huge numbers leaving early. Wighton knocks on, not a great pass, would have been another try scoring opportunity for Australia.

You know what... I think CNK has been the Kiwis' best player on debut. Terrible second half from New Zealand.

What's the opinion around here on Haas?

I can't say I've seen a lot of him, but there is a lot of hype. What I've seen of Fifita has really impressed me, but he doesn't seem to get the same wraps.

Haas is very very good

In a dream world where we could have him and Papalli as our starting props every week, we'd be hard to stop

He gets overused at the broncos due to their lack of depth. Deserves to be in a blues jersey off the bench next year but I thought Fifita would have grabbed a senior Roos jersey before him. Although it's a tough field for a second rower when we're at full strength. Cordner, Frizell, Graham and Kaufusi.
He's still got a lot of maturity to add to his game whereas Fifita already made huge steps forward with that this year and should be starting in the second row for QLD along with Kaufusi 2020.

Kiwis v Kangaroos: New Zealand's Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad overcome with emotion after making test debut

While it wasn't the debut he'd hoped for, NZ Kiwis utility Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad was overcome with emotions, after representing his country of birth for the first time.

"It is so crazy and surreal," Nicoll-Klokstad said, reflecting on his debut. "It's every kid's dream to be here and to cross the white line in the same game is surreal.

Well apparently Fifita to the roosters is on the cards. We're shedding players and they're adding them. Go figure.

It’s quit amazing isn’t it, we make one GF and have to lose players but they can add
the hottest player on the market without losing a single player and upgrades?

Such is life.

But they've signed young Flanagan, and Keery and Mitchell will be looking for upgrades.

'Dream ticked': Tearful CNK's pride after Kiwis debut alongside idol

It was an emotional week for Kiwis debutant Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad and not even a loss to Australia could wipe away his pride after living out a childhood dream.

"I just cried. I didn't think it would hit me like that. They said, 'We're just going to get you straight in for the Test, outside Benji [Marshall], inside Ken [Maumalo]' and I just started crying, man," he said.

True - and we’re looking at offloading the only one that plays in the centres.

How did CNK look at centre? I know he is our long term fullback and isn’t moving out of the 1 jumper, but hypothetically if Teddy or Turbo somehow decided Canberra was the place to be would CKN be a shot at securing a centre position?

He went quite well. His running game was effective there, he handled Jack and Cotric defensively pretty well. He could play centre and you'd get the same Charnze footy, he'd do the job, just less involved due to the position.

No telling after 1 game with a godawful halfback how could he could be there but I'd say he could certainly be a good NRL centre. Not sure the ceiling though. Jury still out over whether he or Cotric would be more destructive there.

Not the best use of him given how good he is defensively as a FB on kicks and kick returns etc imo. But if in fantasyland Teddy has regrets then yes, Charnze would be fine.

Cheers - the international experience and playing in different positions can only be a huge positive in terms of his development. If you took a selfish raiders view of things I can see how you might prefer Papa having a good rest rather than playing for the Roos. He’s a guy at the top of his game and all we need is to keep him fit and healthy. CNK, Nick and Jack on the other hand will really benefit from this experience and should come back bigger and better for it. The Pommy guys are more in the Papa camp I think. They are already top shelf so possibly more to lose than gain from a raiders perspective. Tarps I’m not sure about - he’s a very good footballer but is struggling to step up to great footballer.
