Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
Now that 2021 season is officially over for the Raiders, are the players allowed to go home?
Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
Yes. The procedure is the NRL gives teams a couple of days to wrap up seasons, do post season interviews with players etc. They are hoping to get the teams vaccinated for COVID before they return home. Players are permitted to stay in Queensland on holiday and get themselves home later, at their own expense.

Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
Over paid donkeys need to hit the training paddock from Monday.
Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
Bailey has some speed. But zero gamesense in how to get himself in a position to use it.
Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
Agree BnM. Grindball Team tactics didn't help him either. I am hoping we might see some innovation with Crawley back which can take advantage of speed. Wide cut out passes to get outside the defensive line. While the opposition wingers are up on early tackles, kicks in behind them for the speed men to run on to. I think a bit of variation rather than just to kick on early tackles and don't find grass would benefit the team. All the early kicks did was put more pressure on our defence in 2021 and we didn't handle it well.
So the fitness needed is not only physical it is also about some variations to gain momentum and have the opposition make more defensive decisions, rather than simply settle into their defensive pattern knowing exactly what the Raiders are going to do with the ball.

It’s good to see some of the backs getting specialised spring training… but disturbing that the sprint coaches seem to be finding such quick gains… and that it hasn’t happened before.

Maybe my memory has failed me but hasn't he worked with athletes in the past who have subsequently tested positive to banned substances? Apologies if I have this wrong.greeneyed wrote: It’s good to see some of the backs getting specialised spring training… but disturbing that the sprint coaches seem to be finding such quick gains… and that it hasn’t happened before.

Fabri seems to have been Bronson Xerri's coach, but had nothing to do with that: https://www.sportingnews.com/au/league/ ... qqsqtuaep0
He does have a record with recreational drugs a long time ago… this story from 2010, when sprint coach for the Roosters.
Fabri was convicted of knowingly taking part in the supply of a commercial quantity of methyl amphetamine and knowingly taking part in the supply of the drug Ecstasy. He pleaded not guilty to both charges but was sentenced to four years' jail and paroled in 2002: https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/high- ... 1adcadefe5

He's also done serious jail time for drug trafficking.

As long as it makes us win

If Charnze could gain a yard or 2 of pace he could really add a dimension to his attacking game, either at FB or wing. He's got the instincts and footwork already.

Not sure you can be upset at players working with Fabri, he has worked with players from quite a few clubs. Including the winners of the last 4/5 GF’s.gangrenous wrote:I’m struggling to understand the decision making of the club at the moment…

A few years ago the company I worked for won all of these awards for the App we developed. The main reason we won was because everything we introduced was already rolled out by our competitors years beforehand, so there was no competition this year.greeneyed wrote:It’s good to see some of the backs getting specialised spring training… but disturbing that the sprint coaches seem to be finding such quick gains… and that it hasn’t happened before.

Maybe we’re going to push to be revolutionary, when all we’ve done is caught up with the Jones’s

Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
I know players are subjected to random drug testing - does anyone know if the same applies to those coaching/conditioning them?
Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
The drug testing codes don’t apply to coaches.

Thanks GE. I think this is a loophole which needs to be closed by the NRL or by each Club. Young men have a lot of outside influences on them but at least those connected to the game could have a proven Code of Conduct level they are accountable for. I know there will be arguments that the Clubs just want on field results and turn a blind eye to other activity. The NRL should set the standard imo.

Playing Devil’s Advocate, what’s the point in testing the coaching staff to avoid players being influenced, if the players are being tested anyway?RedRaider wrote:Thanks GE. Would we then go and test Sue from Accounts to make sure she can’t influence either? Personally I would, can’t trust Sue.

Good to hear the new staff is getting some early gains.
Eager to see it continue.

Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
First wave next Monday. Younger players. Last year it was suggested the younger players have more work to do in physical development. Understandable, but not sure that worked out too well last year for some of the senior players.
Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
Ah interesting... well, still good
Re Fabri's history, for me, if he's not actually on staff, and he's just working with the players independently, as long as the club is making sure what they're doing with the players is all above board and the players are making sure any supplements etc are cleared by the club then i dont really care about the history. I really dont have much energy to muster against rec drug related issues.
Re: Toughest pre-season ever 2022
It’s not even Fabri himself coaching CNK. It is one of his coaches, based in Canberra. His company employs over a dozen coaches: https://www.speedacademy.com.au/coaches/

Isn't Simonsson's father a big wig at asada? like to think he's a useful source of what to and not to do
