I think he nearly gave it away to do something else. I forget who is best mate is, Gotch or Harper maybe(?), and they were going to do some entrepreneurial thing together.

Michael Clarke has bought a new home in upmarket Sydney for $13m.
I have a question.
Where does he get his money from ?

Umm being paid 6 and even 7 figures every year from CA and endorsements for a long international career, including a run as captain?
Playing, BBL IPL (hundreds of k a pop) and then getting a nice cushy, commentary job which was attractive enough that he turned down another BBL stint to get it?
$200k a year to commentate on Channel 9 for a few months a year. Additional stints commentating in India at other times. He also has a spot on a breakfast radio sports show.
Still has endorsement gigs for high end brands. 860k instagram followers.
Invested money from his playing days in property. Now reaping the rewards.
I'd be surprised if he's not making near a mill a year even in retirement.

South Africa making a tactical error by dismissing Lendl Simmons.
16 off 35 balls was a sign to keep him in there.

Yeah. Shan Wan at it again on Twitter. Questioning the dropping of Marsh and Steven Smith's place. The whole batting line-up is broken.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Australian Cricket lost 2 icons of the game in the past week. Alan Davidson and Ashley Mallett. Davidson the allrounder and left arm opening bowler who was so accurate and consistent. Such a great fielder close to the wicket. He had the nickname of 'The Claw' because his fielding was so good. Then with the bat he could either defend or smash it depending on the match situation. Sadly I was too young to see much of him but I remember Richie Benaud waxing lyrical about him and that's good enough for me.
Mallett was an off spinner and another good close to the wicket fielder. Part of the Ian Chappell side which beat the Poms in 74/75 and an underrated player except by his team mate.
Vale Alan and Ashley.

T20 Australia must win against the West Indies. Here's hoping they can get the job done. I want to see us having the opportunity for another crack at the Poms after they trounced us.

TBH, I think the result isn't in our hands. The WI will determine the result. They will either destroy us playing Calypso Cricket, OR, totally capitulate.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Test side gents,
I suspect the bowlers select themselves pending fitness - Cummins, Big Wood, Starc, GOAT.
The keeper is still the skipper, rightly or wrongly - Paine.
They aren't dropping Warner, Smith or Labu.
I suspect Green is pretty safe.
So IMO, it's Head vs Maddinson @ 5.
Uzi vs Harris to open with Puc injured.
I suspect they will go Head and Harris.
I'd go Head and Uzi TBH.

Re: The Cricket Thread
I had high hopes for Maddinson as he was coming through but he didn't perform at higher levels. Uzi has the talent but is inconsistent. I think Head and Harris may start the series. It would be good to get some decent starts (50+) at the top of the order but I don't have a lot of confidence in our current options.
Re: The Cricket Thread
Davidson sits beside Miller as the most under rated Australian cricketer of all time imo. ATGRedRaider wrote: ↑November 1, 2021, 7:22 pm Australian Cricket lost 2 icons of the game in the past week.
