What end up happening with Rapana? Did the club/NRL stand him down for a couple of games or has it been swept under the carpet.

He's a maniac. But he's our maniac.

Hope Savage can get right for r1 then, something to look forward to. We'll really miss Jordy judging by what he produced in the all stars..

It’s being reported now that Rapana (and Walsh) can serve their on field and off field suspensions concurrently meaning he will now only miss 2 games.

Not sure what I make of this new interpretation.

The NRL has only just put up the charge sheet. They've still never even announced that Rapana would be suspended for the DUI incident.

Raiders star set to serve drink-driving and All Stars ban at the same time

Raiders star Jordan Rapana will be allowed to serve a suspension from an off-season drink-driving charge alongside his All Stars game ban. The 32-year-old was handed a one-match ban for a DUI in grand final week and was again handed a two-match suspension after a shoulder charge on David Fifita early in the showcase match.

I assume they've changed the rule that trial games count as part of the suspensions. Means he can play the trials but miss the first two rounds, yeah?

Hang on, since when did they change the rule that trails don't count?

Question, if a player is charged in a trail can they be ruled out of an NRL match if yes, then it follows that these matches should count. For eg, if a player gets charged during the trial this week surely the trial the follow week should against the suspension

I think there should be some validity to that Frog, now that the NRL has said each side must play 2 trial matches. Trials in the past were at the whim of each club. My understanding is that is no longer the case. To me, that means these are NRL sanctioned matches and penalties/suspensions should count.

But on the other hand, I’m pretty sure that players have been able to count one trial to a suspension in the past. And that now doesn’t seem to be happening. Wouldn’t surprise me if this isn’t the rule being applied, rather than concurrent suspensions being served. But I guess we will see. There should be somewhere, where these rules are properly and fully set out. But I can’t find the somewhere.

Does this mean players can go ballistic in the trials and their subsequent suspension will count towards trials going forward? I could imagine Ben Cross being suspended for 6 or 7 years worth of trials in his pomp.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Whitehead serious facial injury

Post by yurithe1 »

According to Foxsports and yet to be confirmed by the Raiders. Needless to say, there's no news on when he might return, but he will be out of this weekend's game against the Panthers.

Whitehead should get the plastic surgeons to make him look like Cameron Smith. Then the refs will let him get ‘accidentally’ caught up in the ruck when defending and throw forward passes when attacking.

Canberra Raiders welcome injured half Jamal Fogarty's return to training as comeback nears

The Raiders were thrilled to see Jamal Fogarty back in action at training this week.

"It was really good to see Jamal back out there," Raiders fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad said. "Getting Jamal back will be a big boost for us as a team. He's a great leader. There's a lot of great qualities in him and that's the reason why we brought him into our club and I'm really looking forward to rubbing shoulders with him eventually."

Ricky Stuart teases timeline for Jamal Fogarty's Raiders debut after injury setback

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart isn't one to indulge in too much speculation about his squad, but he has given the strongest hint yet that injured half Jamal Fogarty could return earlier than first thought.

"I'll never look at what was expected. I look at what's the now, and he's training very well," the Canberra coach said."But the medical advice will be something that we'll start looking at soon in regards to what they feel will be an approximate return."
