It's disappointing but talent must always take the money on offer, loyalty doesn't keep you from living under a bridge later in life

I just wanted to say I’ve really enjoyed my time here and have made life long friends, but at this stage of my career, it’s time for a new challenge

Botman can go empty his tank in the Lime Lounge so far as I am concerned. We should be directing our attention to younger posters with potential, like JoshJacksonHead.
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
It'll be funny when he gets to Newcastle and finds that indeed, they did salt the earth up there.

I am reliably informed that Don Furner was also spotted with James Roby sharing a pasty at a local Greggs in Wigan.

Dark days in the signing rumours thread when the John Folau and Mortimer jokes resurface...

I actually heard an interesting one the other day, and given our woes in the halves, im not surprised

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
How are the talks with Jake Connor, Adam Keighran, Will Pryce and Lachlan Lam progressing ?
We are reportedly interested apparently.
We missed Jack Hetherington, CHT and Herbie Farnsworth.

CHT is taking time off from the game. Not someone you'd want to land at the moment.
Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
Don’t think we will land any of those guys, can’t see us signing anyone for 2023 of purpose.

My pommy mail is that Jake Connor is a very good versatile player but probably not quick enough to make a huge difference in the NRL at 1

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
I'd believe that from his highlights- big body and great passer but the athleticism needed by NRL Fbs these days is next level and he was kind of big enough to push through the odd SL defence but never burns anybody. He can kick though so there's be worse shouts as a half, doing a Nicho Hynes type transition. Would depend a lot on whether he could still pass as well up in the line at NRL defenses with a bit less space.
If we were doing a radical overhaul though, get this bloke in at #6, he runs the sweeps on the left ala Wighton does now and Jack to #13 (where I think he'd also be rep level overnight).

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
We better @#$$and*g sign someone. Maybe go after a decent 5/8 and let Jack be Jack in the left centre spot, and start giving our young blokes a go, we are gonna need them next season. Raiders aren't investing in established players by the looks of it

This is the Raiders Problem. And partly why I'm sympathetic to Sticky from time to time. We can hardly sign any established player, especially in key spine positions

certainly not lacking ability Tesi Niu but I think Savage is trending the right way.hakuna Rapana wrote:With CNK leaving and Recce Walsh going back to brissy the club should target Tesi Niu
We need a replacement ready for Rapana, he just can't keep dragging us around nearly single-handedly forever

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
True, but isn't part of the problem the coach himself - that they won't come and play for him? Wasn't there a survey conducted by Sydney Morning Herald of the top players as to which coach that they viewed was the best?Canberra Milk wrote: ↑July 5, 2022, 9:13 pm This is the Raiders Problem. It's also a vicious cycle as success makes players want to join us. Latrell wouldn't join the Tigers even though they offered over $ 1 m and Souths lower.

2021: The verdict: Craig Bellamy has returned to the top after a brief stint in Trent Robinson’s shadow. Back-to-back premierships saw the Roosters coach claim victory in this category last year, but Bellamy edged out Ivan Cleary to win his third coach of the year award in four years. Wayne Bennett also secured his fourth consecutive top three finish.
The surprise: Robinson only received seven per cent of the votes.
Previous results: Best coach
2020 votes: Trent Robinson (24%), Craig Bellamy (17%), Wayne Bennett (10%), Ivan Cleary (8%), Adam O’Brien (8%)
2019 votes: Craig Bellamy (31%), Wayne Bennett (19%), Trent Robinson (13%), Stephen Kearney (6%), Ricky Stuart/Brad Arthur (5%)
2018 votes: Craig Bellamy (48%), Ivan Cleary (17%), Wayne Bennett (8%), Paul Green (4%), Stephen Kearney (4%)
If you had to leave your club, which club would you join?
The verdict: The Melbourne Storm have taken over arch-rivals the Sydney Roosters as the most desired destination in the NRL. The Roosters have won this category the past two years, but the Storm dominated voting in 2021, potentially on the back of a premiership, to claim top spot. The top three spots have been taken by the same teams the past three years, just in different orders.
The surprise: The Broncos remain one of the destination clubs despite their woes for the past two years.
Previous results: If you had to leave your club
2020 votes: Roosters (23%), Broncos (17%), Storm (14%), Knights (12%), Sea Eagles (6%)
2019 votes: Roosters (27%), Storm (15%), Broncos (15%), Rabbitohs (9%), Titans (8%)

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2022
Haha the year we made the grand final Stuart still only polled 5% of votes for Best Coach?
That says it all, really. Just a terrible, terrible coach.
