Clearly you thought it was though.

Pfft
Alphabet needed an example to use against Nickman and the first one that came to mind was CNK. Wonder why that could have been?
Nothing to do with thinking that post was directed at me, which is why I quoted specifically the CNK bit and not the whole post ya pack of simpletons.

Back on recruitment and retention:
We have lost CNK and Elliot who are at worst solid FGers.
Our only new signing for next year I have heard discussed is Ricky Stuart.

Re: Recruitment and retention
We need a proper halfback- that would solve a lot of issues. Not all though as the biggest issue is still here getting his third chance of rebuilding a team
Re: Recruitment and retention
No halfbacks want to play for Ricky. He reportedly punishes them for any errors, and holds them to impossible standards (my guess would be, his own playing days).
It’s as big an open secret as you will get amongst NRL players, and there’s close to 2 decades of proof in the pudding. I’ve had it corroborated by both an ex-Raiders player and a half playing at another club in recent years.

Re: Recruitment and retention
We need a new fullback, halfback, hooker, backrower, and prop. Hell, get a new five eighth too.

Heard we expressed an interest in Jack Murchie
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Are we giving up on Savage and Trevilyan? Schneider written off already too?
It's hard to keep up.

I’d like to replace our spine with world class players rather than rookies. Won’t happen though.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑July 6, 2022, 12:03 pm Are we giving up on Savage and Trevilyan? Schneider written off already too?

I see replacing Williams with Schneider, Hodgson with Trev a downgrade. Even Savage over CNK is a defensive downgrade.
If that’s our spine moving forward, enjoy the bottom 4 for a while.

Re: Recruitment and retention
With Reece Walsh going to the Broncos, the chances of Brisbane re-signing hooker Jake Turpin have completely evaporated considering he is off-contract for 2023 at the moment. They're going to need his salary cap space.
Starling doesn't seem to be the player he was prior to those charges being laid against him. Adam Elliott, who has played some good footy at hooker, is off to the Knights. That leaves us with Woolford and Trevelyan. The latter is still a work in progress it seems.
Turpin was their captain and was named the Broncos' Most Consistent Player of 2021. However, he's only managed eight games this year and averaged 48 mins per game. He's currently out with a shoulder injury.
He'd be a Ryan James sort of risk, but the same sort of cheap one I reckon that could be used as a gap filler until Trevelyan is considered to be ready to come into the side regularly. As an ex-captain, Fogarty doesn't seem to have offered much on-field leadership leaving Whitehead to carry most of the load. Turpin might prove to be the opposite.

Re: Recruitment and retention
Hard no to Turpin. Dont think he's a better prospect than Trevilyan and Woolford is looking like a potential long term starter. And we also have Starling. We've got our fill imo

Re: Recruitment and retention
Does anyone know who/what TPAs our players have?
I've never really understood why TPAs are semi-secretive, aren't they ultimately about a player individually promoting a brand?

Semi-secretive because they would show up inequities in how much money players at different clubs are paid.nachopants wrote: ↑July 6, 2022, 3:40 pm Does anyone know who/what TPAs our players have?

Especially the "whole of game" sponsorships which despite the Orwellian name, of course only go to a handful of players, who also happen to belong to a select set of clubs...

Re: Recruitment and retention
But like I said, Starling hasn't been setting the world on fire for a while now. His two steps to the side before passing doesn't do the forwards any favours and allowed Hunt the chance to kill the final play. There's no guarantee that he'll find form again without specialist coaching.

Re: Recruitment and retention
Yeah those are the big mystery for me. When they last published the TPAs (about 2018/19 from memory) those whole of gamers also showed up, and as far as I could tell nobody had any clue about them. No coincidence that Storm and Roosters had multiple players receiving them.BadnMean wrote:Semi-secretive because they would show up inequities in how much money players at different clubs are paid.nachopants wrote: ↑July 6, 2022, 3:40 pm Does anyone know who/what TPAs our players have?

Re: Recruitment and retention
Get Adam Doueihi from the Tigers. He could be looking for an out as he is getting picked at centre but wants to play 5/8.
That way jack can move to centre

Turpin at this stage of his career probably isn’t going to be wanting that role. He wants to play fg, and I wouldn’t have him above either Trevilyan or Woolford based on what I’ve seen of Turpin
