60th min PENALTY SAMOA, Milford milks it, but Williams clearly interfering in the ruck. No now Samoa drop the ball the ball again on an early tackle. Samoa did not play a warm up and it is showing.

63rd min SIN BIN for Anthony Milford. A very late tackle on Tomkins... and Samoa is now just imploding.

PENALTY GOAL ENGLAND to Makinson. The ball hits the post and it goes through. That's the game.

65th min TRY ENGLAND to Herbie Farnworth. Samoa look tired and lost, simply unable to cover the loss of a man in the defensive line. Makinson converts from out wide. Samoa has never really been in this match.

Samoa don’t have combinations going at all and look way off pace.
In saying that they’ve been smashed by injuries today. I think it’s three off and ruled out.
Parish is garbage. Tactical nous of a pea.

69th min PENALTY ENGLAND Samoa attempt a short drop out but fail to make 10 metres.

TRY ENGLAND to Elliott Whitehead. He looks happy. Going to the video referee, but it is clearly a try. TRY CONFIRMED. Tommy Makinson converts.

England 38-6

Samoa have absolutely stunk. Is it possible for a coach to get sacked mid World Cup?

71st min TRY ENGLAND to Elliott Whitehead. Tommy Makinson makes a break down the sideline and throws a massive forward pass back inside to Whitehead. Elliott had three men in support but he sure wasn't passing it. Makinson converts. A very poor performance from Samoa today.

England 44-6

And now the Samoan kick off is out on the full.

74th min Makinson thinks he's scored in the corner... going to the video referee and the replays confirm it. Four more points, off the George Williams kick. Makinson on the sideline gets the conversion and that's 50 points.

England 50-6

77th min TRY ENGLAND to George Williams and they are just scoring at will now. The defence from Samoa is embarrassing. No conversion for Makinson.

Here come the two teams, they head out side by side at Headingley. The best seats left empty, as they were in Australia at the last World Cup. First, the Australian national anthem. They have no one to sing the anthem, apart from the team and the crowd. Now the anthem of Fiji.

The Fijian team now stand in a circle and sing their traditional hymn. Australia stand in a boomerang shape on the field.

It is quite a reasonable crowd at Headingley. Quite cold, 10C, with a bit of moisture about. Australia stand in a circle just prior to kick off for some final words.

James Tedesco kicks off, we are underway!

4th min TRY FIJI to Semi Valemei chasing the Sitiveni Moceidreke kick to the corner! Sensational start! It is off the back of a penalty. No conversion from the sideline from Brandon Wakeham.

Fiji 4-0

11th min Sensational defence from Fiji, try saver from Valemei and Maika Sivo. There seems to be a suggestion this should be a penalty for a high tackle. It is, but it is very harsh. First contact around the shoulder.

12th min Fiji knock on, Kikau loses the ball. Fiji spend their captain's challenge unwisely. Scrum feed for Australia is the result. The set ends with a knock on from Latrell Mitchell. Fiji have turned Australia away three times in a row.

15th min Koroisau is held in the tackle, and then ruled to have lost it in the ruck. That one should have been a penalty to Fiji for a ruck infringement. And now this time Fiji can't stop Australia.

TRY AUSTRALIA to Jeremiah Nanai under the posts. Converted Valentine Holmes.

23rd min Going to the video referee for a no try to Nanai. He was definitely short of the line. NO TRY. Ruled to be a turnover to Fiji right on their own goal line. They have no territory at all since they score the Valemei try.
