Kris is out . HSS in , named at fullback on the Raiders site but assume he'll play wing with Rapana at the back, Savage 18th man , Hola the other player still on extended bench, Puru must be back to reserve grade

So much for Ricky’s presser today saying Kris was fine. HSS? We’re really in for a big loss now

I’ve been a Ricky supporter for a long time, but his treatment of Savage is bizarre. No wonder Wighton is sick of him.

Savage must have done something terrible in the off season.

Guess we'll never find out with the level of inquisitive sports journalism in Canberra.

What the actual F Ricky. I'm so done with him. We can't recruit anyone to this gos forsaken club, so what does he do, completely ignore up and coming players for absolute duds.

Ricky is gone mad.

I’m really hoping there’s a last minute smokescreen and Savage replaces HSS, but why change the team now? Couldn’t Ricky wait until an hour before kickoff before rejigging the team?

Rapana to fullback
Hopa and Cotric wing
HSS and Timoko centres

That’s what Stick will do.

It just makes no sense. We have our first choice fullback back fit. And he doesn't play him.

Gotta be something to it.

Can't be a smokescreen - he wouldn't do it to HSS.

Not picking Savage is lunacy. To anyone who says we should trust that Ricky knows better I present exhibit Woolford at the start of the season

So what the hell was the point of Savage learning his craft last season? All the errors we had to suffer through were for nothing….

If pessimisticky won't pick savage against a rookie fb for the tigers than we might not see him play at all this year

The use / non use of Savage is baffling. Prepared to play him at wing for one game and at 18th man yet when the opportunity opens up at fullback he is not named?

I’m hoping for a last minute smokescreen

No way is there a smokescreen.

Firstly Ricky doesn't do them.

Secondly it'd be bloody brutal to name a kid and then turn around the next day saying just joking you're not playing.

It's just getting weird now.

Ricky keeps pulling a reverse NSW origin and naming centres at FB...

From the reports I’ve seen of NSW cup (thank you GE), HSS does appear to be putting up some very good numbers.

Who knows what the go is with Savage.

Presumably there is a good chance Rapa goes to fullback and HSS goes to wing, or even centre inside Hoppa. Despite a poor start to the season in first grade, he’s not the first to struggle coming back from a serious injury and I hope he can make good on his potential - he was the best of the young guys coming through a couple of years ago.

Savage went into the year our first choice FB. It seems obvious now that he is considered not available for selection in firsts. And whatever the reason for that, they're doing their utmost to keep it in house. The fact it hasn't been leaked is a pretty good sign. Will be interesting to see if they can keep it that way this weekend.

My guess would be not meeting team standards. Missing rehab sessions, being late, or some variant of.

This is true with hss, he has gone back and worked on his game with good numbers, happy if he gets another shot, I think we need savage on the bench at least

I try to consider all reasons - including ones we don't know about - whenever Ricky makes strange selections but I simply cannot fathom his thinking on this. Bizarre.

HSS won’t be playing fullback. The club announcement said he’s been added to “the backline”. Rapana to fullback. HSS on the wing.

And the "nursing back from a broken jaw" crowd. Hard to believe people fell for that

I thought we can wait until 2024 to see Sticky's real opinion of him. I don't think there's any need now, unfortunately

He finished last year our first choice fullback when we had options. And Stuart extended him to end 2025, longer than most others. It still makes no sense that he doesn't rate his ability.

There has to be an explanation that we are unaware of. We need someone to grill Stuart in a presser and ask the question until we get an answer that makes sense.
