Re: 2023 Highs and Lows: Best NRL try
Spent a very long time going through all the tries, and it was tough narrowing the list to 15. I think there's three stand outs, the Wighton try against the Warriors in Auckland, the Timoko try against the Titans and the Kris try against the Tigers. Some might say that the Kris try was not a try, due to the knock on, but in my view, it was passed backwards before bouncing forward.
In any event, I voted for the Wighton try.

I went Wighton vs NZ, but Starlo vs Knights as a close #2 for timing and importance of the tries. Wightons has the added coast to coast off the kickoff.
Sebs long range run vs Tigz at home, in his 1 game at centre was probably my #3.
I'd like to have seen Fog off the pads vs Tigers and whomever it happened to the wk after. By proving it was skill, not a fluke, I think it deserves credit.

Re: 2023 Highs and Lows: Best NRL try
I strongly considered the two tries Fogarty scored off his own kicks (in particular the second). But it was the second last cut. I thought 15 should be the limit.
Re: 2023 Highs and Lows: Best NRL try
Loved that Fog try where with absolutely nothing on and he saw an opportunity to kick ahead for himself and sealed the deal.
As for the others, I liked the Timoko try because Fogs defence knocked the ball loose in a try scoring moment for the Titans and Rapa played to the whistle and regained possession for the Raiders and then gave the opportunity for Timoko to go the length. Old bulls and the young bull combination making tries for the Raiders.

Is this a high or low?
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.
