Rugby League 2023

Re: Rugby League 2023
My view is that admitting a PNG team is a big mistake. It’s not commercially viable. It’s only viable with a huge amount of Australian government funding. And when it dries up… as it inevitably will… the NRL and other clubs will be left with the cost.
Re: Rugby League 2023
The funding from Australia to PNG hasn't dried up at all in the last 40+ years and with China's presence in the region I highly doubt it will dry up any further. I think the funding (general) will increase and while that funding may not be provided for this specific purpose this is where it will end up. I think some of the Pacific nations are leveraging the strategic security situation to their advantage. It's quite interesting to watch.

Salary cap concessions for NRL clubs for recruiting union players. Another bad thing V’landys is about to do. All the club bosses railed against the idea at the last CEOs meeting. But because Politis wants it, and The Roosters have just signed a union player, it looks like V’landys is going to push ahead… And give the Roosters retrospective cap relief for the player they’ve just recruited…

What a shame. Imagine being able to raid the kiwi super rugby teams for an outside back.LimeGreenMachine wrote: ↑December 13, 2023, 6:59 am The Mole is reporting that the union discount has been rejected by the clubs.

Re: Rugby League 2023
We can. We just have to count it to the cap. Too many loopholes in the cap as is, this is another that just benefits the “big clubs”. The Roosters have already signed a Wallabies guy. The Rabbitohs have some guy from the All Blacks at training. Exactly the clubs who already benefit big time from other current loopholes.

Yeah that rule only benefits the likes of East's, Broncos and South's.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.
