Training going well mate, just laying the bricks. Did 6foot track a couple of weeks ago and found it quite easy compared to last time, and ‘accidentally’ ran a 15-20 min PB, so the plan is working. Doing UTA100 in May as a very day, not pushing hard for a time, just doing a big day with good vert and aid stations. Then its a
Full steam ahead to UTMB - late august.

How’s your training going?

Well done mate. I've got Canberra Marathon this weekend. A bit nervous, I've only done one marathon and that was 10 years ago. Expecting it to hurt in a different way to the monster trail races I've been doing.

It's a nice course and pretty flat (edit - i should add that i haven't done the marathon course, just the half). Fingers crossed for good weather.

Awesome. Did I see there was some course changes for UTA because of the weather again?

Hope you're saving some money too. A workmate did a big bike ride in France last year and said it was outrageously expensive.

I haven't trained for about 6 weeks. I screwed up my hamstring last July playing soccer and didn't take long enough time off. I still have time up my sleeve as 50k is October. Best to give it another month of healing otherwise that 50k will hurt a lot and potentially do further damage. Wife is throwing down some good numbers in training and will probably leave me in her dust.

UTA does have a mod on the usual course as the area known as ‘landslide’ had another - you guessed it, landslide! Talking to the RD last week and it should be a good plan B this year.

Saving like crazy for EU…

Good to hear you’re wife is training the house down, hope you get back to it safely.

Notched up a 3:14 marathon today boys. Very happy with that. Never was uncomfortable. That will earn me a slot in Start Group 2 at Comrades.

Don’t know to be honest, the 2 usual issues are cliff instability and the valley water levels as it’s part of the Sydney water catchment. Both issues usually come from sustained rain for long periods - so hopefully we are ok.

You went and did a 4000km run in Canberra, and that night the raiders played and you didn’t take the opportunity for a day off and to catch a game?

You disgust me.

What can I say. I was oncall for two hospitals the next day. My work is pretty inflexible.

It’s a ****ing cool event mate - I heard there was a fairly major course change this year so not sure how much the weather will affect it. It’s not your standard MTB race, it’s a goddam goat track in places and you will be throwing the bike over the shoulder at times! Absolutely cracking adventure.

yeah back to the original course due to track damage. I've been told it's brutal, can't wait
